[edit]maybe we could add a few petitions that actually worked? -122.52.23.168 11:06, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
- They claim have a few apologies, but I see little in the way of action. I'm not sure this is actually notable, though. --Phirazo 04:15, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
- On second thought, it may be notable, but most attention is on specific petitions (there is one about the Pottsville Maroons, which has more to do with the fact that it was started by a member of the press), rather than the site itself. The site has an Alexa rating of 4,191. --Phirazo 04:39, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
Blocked?
[edit]I tried adding one of the PetitionOnline URLs to a Wikipedia article and got rejected by a spam filter blacklist (passed Preview but not Save). are PetitionOnline pages generally blocked? Where can I find the story behind this? —Tokek (talk) 21:35, 18 September 2008 (UTC)
- The entire PetitionOnline.com domain has been blacklisted for "spamming". A request has been placed to unblock the domain, but I expect the Wikipedia admins had a good reason for this. Perhaps enough time has passed and enough value is present within the site to allow the domain to be removed from the Wikipedia blacklist. The request was submitted to Talk:Spam-blacklist on 2 December 2008. 66.253.47.250 (talk) 15:17, 2 December 2008 (UTC)
Current status information, June 14, 2009
[edit]Since Friday morning, June 12, 2009, PetitionOnline has been inaccessible due to a persistent DDoS attack as diagnosed by Verio, the site's large server hosting provider. More information and updates are available in a forum posting. Greenineugene (talk) 05:01, 15 June 2009 (UTC)
- The attack persists.--151.50.184.143 (talk) 19:08, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
Sources for section on criticism
[edit]The source for the sentence about the heavy criticism of (unintended) users is
<ref>{{cite web|title=How do I remove my signature - Petition Online Help Desk|url=http://helpdesk.petitiononline.com/entries/20825276-how-do-i-remove-my-signature-name-from-a-petition?page=1|publisher=PetitionOnline|accessdate=19 March 2012}}</ref>
and for the sentence about the ended support it's
<ref>{{cite web|title=URGENT: How to retrieve signatures to my petition? : Petition Online Help Desk|url=http://helpdesk.petitiononline.com/entries/20458158-urgent-how-to-retrieve-signatures-to-my-petition|publisher=PetitionOnline|accessdate=19 March 2012}}</ref>
It's not possible to add it to the article as the PetitionOnline URL (but not the Change.org URL, senselessly) is blocked by Wikipedia. 87.77.27.9 (talk) 16:43, 19 March 2012 (UTC)
