[edit]Untitled
[edit]I am tired of hearing Civoniceva's name being mispronounced by English speakers in Australia. I know that he is too polite to correct such English-speaker's corruption of his name. So I have added a brief statement of how to get his name right. If you want to delete my correction, in your ignorance, then go ahead and be rude enough to do so. If you don't understand the transliteration of Fijian speech into written English leave it alone!Lin —Preceding unsigned comment added by Linmhall 10:27, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
I went to school with Petero in Redcliffe. I can't remember how he pronounced his surname but I know it is not the way the tv presenters pronounce it. I didn't even know the player on tv was the same person for years until I realised he was from Redcliffe. In short, I think you're right and the correct pronunciation should be included. Just so you guys know, it's correctly pronounced "thivon-itheva". Josh the newcastle fan (talk) 16:25, 7 July 2010 (UTC)

Nationality
[edit]I've changed 'Fijian-Australian' to 'Fijian' as that is what the AAP source says. The Courier Mail source supplied by Jeff does not state that he has Australian nationality. Absent a good source which confirms that he is Australian, we have to go with what the sources say - according to what I can find, he's Fijian, not Australian, and not Fijian-Australian. --hippo43 (talk) 02:53, 29 December 2009 (UTC)
- According to the courier mail source which you keep inexplicably deleting, Civoniceva moved to Australia at 9 months of age. You would know this if you read it. In light of this is it really too much of a stretch for you to say that he's Australian? The only possible explanation for your actions is you're annoyed that I deleted your unformatted citation and replaced it with a better one, so you continue to revert. It's childish. Please get over it. Civoniceva is correctly categorised as an Australian as the guidlines state that "place of birth is rarely notable." The lead in should correspond with this.--Jeff79 (talk) 03:03, 29 December 2009 (UTC)
- "The only possible explanation"? "Childish"? Please get over yourself. As for "inexplicably" deleting a source - I gave a clear explanation for it in my edit summary here. You would know this if you read it. My objection had nothing to do with emphasising his place of birth, but was about his nationality - i.e. "the country of which the person is a citizen or national", per WP:MOSBIO. The Courier Mail source, as I explained, doesn't say that Civoniceva is Australian. Indeed, I couldn't then find a source to confirm that he is, and inferring as much from that source, as you suggested, would obviously be original research. There are, however, numerous sources which describe him simply as "Fijian", and none that I could find which describe him as "Fijian-Australian", so I made that change. Now that there is a source which clearly confirms he is Australian, I have no problem with it. --hippo43 (talk) 15:01, 14 January 2010 (UTC)
Redcliffe Dolphins
[edit]Should we add mention of his early career before playing for the Broncos? Petero played for the Redcliffe Dolphins. JohnnyDogooder (talk) 15:19, 7 July 2010 (UTC)
Referencing
[edit]New paras. are being added to this article with no references. The latest (release from Panthers after 2011 season) has assumptions in it. These are just that? Boscaswell (talk) 09:43, 26 July 2011 (UTC)
