Jackson-Rowe's wedding day discrepancy

[edit]

In this page there is a contradiction. I quote from the preface "the pop star wed a pregnant Rowe on November 14, 1996" but in the section about Debbie Rowe's wedding, you can find "Jackson and Rowe wed on November 13, 1996" as quoted by Taraborrelli's book. InfiniteMJ (talk) 10:07pm, 20 March 2010 (UTC)

Fixed; it was November 13. Thanks, Pyrrhus16 22:12, 20 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

But according to IMDB http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001391/bio and other sources, the date is November 14, 1996.InfiniteMJ (talk) 10:24pm, 20 March 2010 (UTC)

IMDB is not considered a reliable source. Regards, SunCreator (talk) 22:26, 20 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

As far as I know, Taraborrelli is the only one who claimed for November 13th. Is ABC reliable enough? http://www.abc.net.au/news/photos/2009/06/26/2609410.htm InfiniteMJ (talk) 10:46pm, 20 March 2010 (UTC)

Good point. abc.net.au is properly considered reliable. So we have a conflict of sources. Regards, SunCreator (talk) 22:52, 20 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Jackson and Rowe married in Australia. When in Australia it was November 14th, in the USA it was still November 13th. Check the time zone: Sidney UTC+10. Los Angeles UTC-8.InfiniteMJ (talk) 11:03pm, 20 March 2010 (UTC)

adding infromation about Lisa Marie

[edit]

After the divoce with LMP and the marriage with Rowe, Jackson and Lisa Marie continued having an affair with media making headlines at the time and ET having videos about it and Rowe had to give an interview about that. Lisa Marie in her interview aired on October 21 2010 to Oprah Winfrey said this lasted until 1999. Taraborelli mentions that too.In that interview Oprah asked Presley about the timeline of Rowe's pregnancy (Presley and Jackson were still married) and Presley answered that Michael Jackson did that to hurt her and that indeed she was very hurt. Traborelli in his book said that the 2 women never liked each other being jealous over Jackson and Presley in 2010 Oprah interview said "I knew she was always around him". Lisa Marie in the same 2010 interview said that in 2005 she and Jackson had a long emotional related conversation on the phone and he asked her if she still loved him but she rejected him. Taraborelli also mentions that incident in Jackson's biography. The public was not so much in dark about the 2 of them knowing each other because on February 2 1994 they attended together the Fifth Dimension and The Temptations at the Sheraton Desert Inn in Las Vegas. They were seated in a VIP section known as the "King's Row". This can be found in Lisa Campbell's book "The King of Pop's Darkest hour" chapter 6, 3d paragraph, as well as in videos referring to the event.

-The amount stated in the settlement document is 15,331,250. It's not 22 millions. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 109.242.40.135 (talk) 14:06, 23 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Wrong /mixed-up in wording/context:

"In a 2010 Oprah interview, Presley admitted that they spent four years after the divorce "getting back together and breaking up", until she felt *she "had to push it away"*

She didn't actually say *she* pushed it away...It was actually Jackson who "pushed" LMP away. She basically says, (just slightly different wording) this in that Oprah interview. When Oprah asked why, LMP basically said she didn't really know. (I will look for that part of the video again if I need to post it here, but I do remember something like this being said). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.42.90.232 (talk) 06:48, 20 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

1988 photo

[edit]

Wouldn't it be better to show the guy with his real face?
Due to the skin colour, this image promotes a false impression that this is a "real" face. Varlaam (talk) 23:13, 24 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

SuperSonicBaby2 (talk) 12:28, 11 October 2011 (UTC) I personally don't think it matters what photo they use Michael Jackson is Michael Jackson. Black, white, creole, pale. But just out of curiosity what would you consider his real face?[reply]

Prince, Paris, and Blanket

[edit]

SuperSonicBaby2 (talk) I think you should talk about his Children more and get more pictures of them I just feel it's really important to include his relationship with his kids.

Early on in the article, Blanket is referred to as Michael's "fourth and final child", however only three children are named in the article - Prince, Paris, and Blanket himself. Is this a typo, or is there a fourth child omitted from the article? The allegations that Michael had an illegitimate child aren't really discussed in this article, is that the child? Or is "fourth" in reference to Debbie Rowe's first pregnancy, which ended in miscarriage? Psunshine87 (talk) 20:51, 5 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Diana Ross and Michael Jackson

[edit]

I really think that this relationship is very notable and should be included in this article. Articles like the following:

seem to show that they had a very intriguing relationship indeed.

Perhaps also a section devoted to the relationship between Michael Jackson and Paul McCartney? Their whole story, from their collaborations on duets (Say Say Say and The Girl is Mine up until the breakup of their friendship after MJ's purchase of the Beatles catalog, is very juicy and notable and should be included as well.--Coin945 (talk) 12:06, 24 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Wade Robson

There needs to be something in there about him. Shiningroad (talk) 22:48, 15 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of child sexual abuse cases

[edit]

With this edit, ‎Lassoboy (talk · contribs) removed the child sexual abuse cases, stating, "This paragraph do not belong into this article. This article is about the relationships. Accusations are not regarded as relationships." Notice that the material is still currently summarized in the WP:Lead. Regardless of Lassoboy's view, these child sexual abuse cases concern Jackson's relationships with the children prior to and after their accusations against him (not "after" in the case of Wade Robson, of course, since Jackson died before that accusation). So, yes, it's a personal relationship matter. The accusations are what made the relationships WP:Notable. I would have reverted Lassoboy, but, looking at his edit history and talk page, he is a prominent WP:Edit warrior, and so I deduced that reverting him without knowing that I would have backup on that front is futile. The only valid argument I can see for excluding the child sexual abuse content from this article is that it's already covered at the Michael Jackson article. This article is a WP:Good article (one that has deteriorated, albeit), and it needs more very experienced Wikipedia editors watching it. The same goes for the Michael Jackson's health and appearance article. It's a shame seeing articles that reached WP:Good article status deteriorating instead of improving.

I'll alert Wikipedia:WikiProject Music, Wikipedia:WikiProject Musicians and Wikipedia:WikiProject Biography to this discussion. Flyer22 (talk) 16:56, 2 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Fatherhood of Jackson's children

[edit]

I'm amazed that the fatherhood of his children is not a topic here. Everybody who has read their biology books knows Micheal Jackson can't be the biological father of his children. An african man simply cannot father european children biologically. In that case the offsping would be mulatto. In this article is says that Jackson was their father and it does not discuss it any further. But it's not the truth, isn't it? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.221.204.140 (talk) 22:29, 24 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

"An african man simply cannot father european children biologically."? Take a look at Wentworth Miller. More images of him here. How do we know that Jackson's children are 100% "european"? If Jackson is the biological father, they certainly are not 100% "european." No one is 100% any "race" these days anyway. And what you are stating has WP:BLP issues. Jordan Chandler has never admit to lying about the molestation allegation

Taraborrelli is unreliable.

[edit]

According to this other biography, Jackson tried to stop Taraborrelli from publishing a biography of him. Many newspapers disputed the legitimacy of the marriage to Presley. The section has general WP:WEIGHT and WP:RS issues. —Partytemple (talk) 20:34, 14 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

None of that makes Taraborrelli unreliable. Our guideline on reliable sources is at WP:Reliable sources. And we also have a WP:BIASEDSOURCES section. Questions about the reliability of Taraborrelli should be asked at the WP:Reliable sources noticeboard. What makes a book published by Select Books reliable? Flyer22 Reborn (talk) 16:53, 15 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Much of the stuff in his books are based on hearsay and discuss intimate details of someone’s life which he wouldn’t know unless he was close to them. Jackson severed his relationship with Taraborrelli before he wrote the books. Barry Gordy also once sued Taraborrelli for damages which made him remove everything related to Gordy in the book. I’ve also noted some inconsistencies in his writings on the Michael Jackson talk page. He is at the very least inconsistent and potentially libelous. —Partytemple (talk) 17:55, 15 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
A lot of what he has stated can be supported by reliable sources, which is why it has been relatively easy to replace him as a source with other sources at the Michael Jackson article. Again, we have the WP:Reliable sources guideline to guide us, and the WP:Reliable sources noticeboard to ask about a source's reliability when we question it. Biased language

[edit]

I suggest cleaning up this article to remove biased language. I also ask that using terms like "the woman" or "offered to carry his child" be avoided to preserved the personhood of anyone discussed. 72.234.155.19 (talk) 06:50, 10 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Overuse of on citation

[edit]

It appears that J. Randy Taraborrelli's biography of Jackson is used quite a bit. Different sections of the book are given different citation numbers and this makes it appear as though citations come from multiple sources. 72.234.155.19 (talk) 07:19, 10 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
