Rendition of New Pearl Harbor Memorial Bridge

[edit]

The Connecticut Department of Transportation's New Haven Harbor Corridor Reconstruction Program website has several renditions of what the new Pearl Harbor Memorial Bridge will look like when it is finished. Here is the the URL to one of these renditions: [1] 67.169.155.123 23:37, 31 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Trust me, no one wants an image of the current bridge. - Denimadept (talk) 07:20, 23 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sigh, nevermind. I'll see if I can do this tomorrow (Sunday). - Denimadept (talk) 07:28, 23 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Added. Not the best possible, perhaps, but this bridge isn't exactly picturesque. - Denimadept (talk) 19:02, 13 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

re: previous bridge

[edit]

I'm not sure there was a previous bridge that was replaced by the current bridge. That previous bridge may be referring to the previous structure on the site of the Tomlinson Bridge (US 1 over the Quinnipiac River) that was recently reconstructed. --Polaron | Talk 17:41, 23 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Got this from someone who was living in the area at the time. He would know the difference. Still, I agree refs would help. - Denimadept (talk) 19:46, 23 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The US 1 bridge and the I-95 bridge are adjacent. What route was the old bridge carrying? I would say that if it was US 1 rather than I-95, it is better to include this information in the Tomlinson Bridge article (once it exists). --Polaron | Talk 23:51, 23 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I'm quite familiar with the area, thanks, as it's effectively local and I've been in the area, more or less, my whole life. I don't know what was going over that bridge before I-95 was built. And when I go there to take pictures of the big bridge, I will take pictures of the "small" lift bridge. I've long thought it looks nice. I currently plan to use the lift bridge as a starting location to sight the big girder/stringer (I think) bridge, but that's only a starting location. I'll get a better idea when I'm ready to go. - Denimadept (talk) 05:04, 24 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The Pearl Harbor Memorial Bridge opened in 1958 with the completion of the Connecticut Turnpike (I-95). The Tomlinson Lift Bridge carries US-1. The present-day Tomlinson Bridge replaced a two-leaf bascule bridge originally built for US-1 in 1917. Not sure if there was anything before the 1917 Tomlinson Bridge. Wxstorm (talk)
You may have noticed that that section disappeared from the article. - Denimadept (talk) 04:40, 2 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

New bridge stats requested

[edit]

I've sent a note requesting information on the new bridge. Will post when/if I get anything. - Denimadept (talk) 21:02, 17 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I updated the new release date for contract B. The information is available on CONNDOT's outreach site dedicated to the bridge. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.221.224.114 (talk) 21:00, 22 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Recommend split

[edit]

I recommend splitting this article into an article for the old bridge, and one for the new bridge. I've done similar for Berkley–Dighton Bridge, where the previous bridge is Berkley–Dighton Bridge (1896). We could do one here as Pearl Harbor Memorial Bridge (Connecticut) (1958). - Denimadept (talk) 15:46, 30 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
