the easiest to win Hey, maybe the Peabody's the hardest award to win, and maybe it's not. The claim needs qualification--at the very least it needs to be given some context in which it makes sense to the reader. Otherwise you've just got an opinion. Buck 21:01, 26 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

And how can it be "considered to be" among the oldest awards? Either it is or it isn't. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.102.128.131 (talk) 07:34, 28 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Merge proposal

[edit]

The page List of Peabody Award winners was orginially a long list of every winner since 1940. It was later spun out into daughter articles, leaving a template-like stub on the original list page. Therefore, I propose merging this shortened list into the main Peabody Award page. Lovelac7 01:00, 5 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Looks like a good idea to me. --Roswell native (talk) 23:09, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed. Getting to the winners is unnecessarily complex right now. |Godofbiscuits| 16:53, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Usage of International

[edit]

Don't believe the claim that the Peabody award is an international award is accurate if they are awarded only for American works. Probably 'internationally recognized' award would be more accurate. Lostpupp (talk) 00:20, 19 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I agree that, "The George Foster Peabody Awards (Peabody Awards) are annual, international awards ..." and "The Peabody Awards honor distinction and achievement in the United States..." are contradictory statements. However, the error is in the second statement since the awards ARE international in that the recipients are not exclusively from the US (see 2009 recipients from UK, Korea, etc.). I will correct that second statement. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Scuac (talkcontribs) 13:44, 1 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Outdated Info?

[edit]

The Article-Section Peabody Judging states: There is no set number of Awards. Since 1941, when the first Awards were presented for work completed in 1940, no more than 36 Awards have been presented in a single year.
To best of my understanding this information is outdated since the announcements 2011 and surpassed this year again: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Peabody_Award_winners_(2010-2019). But as my understanding of how to count exactly is limited I wont change the entry(like: if two programs from HBO are awarded, do they really count as two or only once) --Mountainshadow (talk) 16:06, 5 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Recognition?

[edit]

What kind of recognition does the Peabody Award garner by the news industry, broadcast industry, academically, and popularly? Are recipients generally well thought of by Wikipedians as reliable sources? It's my impression that it's well thought of, but what do I know? Move discussion in progress

[edit]

There is a move discussion in progress on Talk:Golden Globe Award which affects this page. Please participate on that page and not in this talk page section. Thank you. Corvoe (speak to me) 16:46, 2 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
