Filatyev has been written about in the Washington Post, but it's behind a paywall I dont' have access to. Can anyone help? Scarykitty (talk) 02:51, 29 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I added it and many other reliable sources. This person has been widely written about in mainstream media, top English-language newspapers and televised news services have either interviewed him, ran stories about him or published excerpts from his memoir. That said, he has been receiving mixed reactions as to how reliable his accounts are, and whether he is complicit in war crimes or not. I've tried to keep things balanced. His current attitude towards Russia is complicated, he still seems to be calling himself a patriot and wanting to love Russia and to be proud of its army, but he also vehemently criticised Putin and tore up his passports. When doing so, he stated that he was 'torn apart by emotions', so it may take some time before his positions on several issues become clearer. His choice for France seems to be motivated by the fact that Vladimir Osechkin and his Gulagu.net organisation, who helped him leave Russia, are based there, but whether he will join Osechkin's group or anything like that is anyone's guess.
