I Love This Guy
[edit]Being a latecomer to the psychodelic san francisco music scene, I did not get to see Paul Kantner play until the Jefferson Airplane reunion hit Merriweather Post Pavillion in Columbia MD in 1989. His playing and interactions with the band were great......I had the feeling he was the catalyst in getting the band back together and it showed. What really impressed me was that after the show, he was the only musician that came out and sat on the side of the stage and talked to us for awhile.
Since that time, I have seen Paul play in his Wooden Ships and Jefferson Starship TNG anytime hes on the east coast.
There are not many of the original psychedelic music architects still practicing the trade. This is not a greatest hits oldies classic rock act..........Paul is still writing new music as well as exploring the intricacies of the classic works. Check him out when the Jefferson Starship lands in your town.--michael schuncke annapolis md 02:18, 26 July 2006 (UTC)
PERRO
[edit]Should something about his novel be added in to this article?
Why is "Hot Tuna" included
[edit]He didn't take part did he? I think it was another J.A member MJN SEIFER
Paul did play with Hot Tuna as an acoustic trio in Dec 1987 on the east coast and Feb-March 1988 on the west coastmichael schuncke annapolis md (talk) 03:25, 16 February 2010 (UTC) Mike Schuncke
- Paul played with Hot Tuna early on around 1969 and in the late 80's. JoeD80 (talk) 08:00, 26 April 2010 (UTC)
A Child is Coming
[edit]In the article it says "...Slick became pregnant, and a song about their love child's impending birth "A Child Is Coming" appeared on Blows Aganist the Empire..." (This song is of course credited to Grace Slick and David Crosby as well as Paul Kantner.)
This is a well known story, however it has been said by Paul that this song was written before Grace Slick became pregnant. In the sleeve notes to the CD edition of Blows Against the Empire he says: "We weren't even together as a couple when we recorded this album. She approached me ... while we were mixing the record, and we just took off from there".
The article also says Paul Kantner and Grace Slick began living openly as a couple in 1969. If the above is true this cannot really be since Blows Against the Empire was released in 1970.
Good music whatever the truth of the matter Soarhead77 (talk) 15:24, 26 April 2010 (UTC)
- Grace was definitely pregnant when this album came out, since China was born in January 1971 only a couple of months later. The album Paul is referring to them getting together during mixing is Volunteers according to the Got a Revolution book. JoeD80 (talk) 01:24, 22 March 2011 (UTC)
