Reorganising Australian parliaments category

[edit]

I propose to tidy up Category:Australian Parliaments a little by creating a new sub category within it called - Category:Parliaments of the Australian States and Territories . This category would contain articles on the Parliaments but not lists of previous parliaments. The category would then be listed at Category:Legislatures of subnational entities in place of Category:Australian Parliaments. This would mean that this article will be listed under the new Category:Parliaments of the Australian States and Territories instead of the current Category:Australian Parliaments. If you would like to comment please go to Category talk:Australian parliaments Adz 07:51, 2 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Summary Table

[edit]

This article badly needs a summary table. I suggest the headings something like this:

  • State/Teritory
  • Lowerhouse
  -Creation date
  -Name
  -Number of reps
  • Upperhouse
  -Creation date
  -Name
  -number of reps
  • Total number of reps

Something like that. I am not talented at making wiki tables so can someone please help?--TinTin (talk) 02:50, 13 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Combining all lower house seats in to a combined seat graph with combined seat numbers - should this image be removed?

[edit]

The first image in the article which combines the raw seat numbers of all state/territory lower houses in Australia to a single seat graph with total numbers seems pretty meaningless to me. I was going to remove it but decided I would bring it up here first. Thoughts? Timeshift (talk) 02:31, 26 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Definitely agree. I can't think of a single situation where these people would be grouped together in such a way! -- Chuq (talk) 03:25, 26 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Done - I also recall the Australian Greens infobox precedent - having another seat count to combine their state/territory seats, which had clear support for removal. Timeshift (talk) 03:28, 26 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't like how the old summary table at the bottom of this page looked. So I created a new one. Thoughts before I replace it?

  1. ^ In Queensland the Liberal Party and National Party merged in 2008 to form the Liberal National Party of Queensland.
  2. ^ a b c d e f g h The Liberal Party and National Party do not have a formal coalition in Western Australia and South Australia. Instead they behave as separate independent parties.
  3. ^ In the Northern Territory the Coalition is represented by the Country Liberal Party.
  4. ^ Centre Alliance which runs candidates at federal elections and SA-Best which runs candidates in South Australian elections are not technically the same party but do share a common heritage, both being founded by Nick Xenophon, and work closely together.
