Incorrect title

Not only is it incorrect to title it "Parkland high school shooting" instead of "Parkland High School shooting", it is not "Parkland High School", it is Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. The Sandy Hook shooting page is not "Newtown elementary shooting", the Robb Elementary School shooting is not titled "Uvalde elementary school shooting", and so on. This was a pointless change to a title that was perfectly fine as it was. Cawseases (talk) 21:54, 30 April 2023 (UTC)

High school is now in lower case letters because it is not the name of the school. The article title was changed, although my reading of the discussion above is that the consensus for change was not overwhelmingly strong and it should probably have been relisted or closed as no consensus..--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 06:59, 1 May 2023 (UTC)
For every other article, it is the name of the school. Cawseases (talk) 15:51, 11 May 2023 (UTC)
This is the WP:COMMONNAME for this event. Please see the closed discussion at #Requested move 29 March 2023 (above) for further discussion/rationale. —Locke Coletc 15:58, 11 May 2023 (UTC)
I'm not seeing a strong consensus for this move in the discussion above, and it should probably have been relisted.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 17:45, 11 May 2023 (UTC)
I do. And it was relisted initially, then closed nine days after that. —Locke Coletc 19:02, 11 May 2023 (UTC)

Misinformation

The shooting at MSD was in Parkland Fl. Parkland is a suburban city, 42 miles northwest of Miami, in northern Broward County, Florida, Not in Miami! 2601:589:407F:80F0:E8A7:798F:94E8:1D4B (talk) 12:49, 12 May 2023 (UTC)

Where does it say the event was in Miami? The lede says "at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in the Miami suburban town of Parkland, Florida", and first line after the lede states "at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, an affluent suburb about 30 miles (48 km) northwest of Fort Lauderdale and 45 miles (72 km) northwest of Miami". - Adolphus79 (talk) 13:07, 12 May 2023 (UTC)

Cruz

Nikolas Cruz and the "perpetrator" section of this article are almost exact duplicates of each other... it needs to be drastically condensed if there is a separate article... - Adolphus79 (talk) 00:18, 18 June 2023 (UTC)

Rifle did not malfunction

An weapons expert at the trial against Cruz testified that he made test fires through the weapon and it is still in working condition. After failing to shoot out the windows in the lounge on the third floor, he decided to give up, dropping his rifle and fleeing the school. TigerProwlTactical (talk) 23:55, 27 July 2023 (UTC)

Today I have had to revert a considerable amount of sloppy edits. The root cause was adding material based on a mixture of WP:OR and WP:HIJACK. Since this is a high profile article, any significant changes should be properly sourced before adding them. ♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 18:45, 6 August 2023 (UTC)

Requesting the shooter’s name not be listed on the first line of the title. I understand it’s important to identify; but he needs to not be the main focus. His name should not be famous or known especially as the headline for these lost souls. 2601:204:D380:E660:BC91:D429:DBC4:6FD3 (talk) 11:04, 2 September 2023 (UTC)

Famous music writer and rapper xxxtentacion wrote the song "hope" in memory for all the lives lost 2601:19B:8500:6E60:1969:4F48:6DE3:6976 (talk) 02:00, 2 November 2023 (UTC)

Thank you, but that is not the point. You need to supply a link to an review or article about this song that shows the song and its dedication is culturally significant and caused an impact. Richard-of-Earth (talk) 05:11, 16 February 2024 (UTC)

Okay, that qualifies, but we do not have a tribute section. Should we include other tributes? Should it be in the reactions section or a separate section? Richard-of-Earth (talk) 03:13, 19 February 2024 (UTC)
It should be in the reaction section 2600:1014:B1A4:E166:14A9:DF60:5658:1192 (talk) 19:34, 22 March 2024 (UTC)

Parkland does not belong to Miami

Get the facts right, please. Parkland is not part of Miami at all. It is an affluent suburban city Broward county, far enough north of Miami to be closer to Boca Raton rather than Miami. No wonder it has become difficult to trust this site for factual information! 2601:588:C500:DB40:BCDD:C084:F302:4B8C (talk) 09:49, 19 May 2024 (UTC)

Parkland is part of the Miami metropolitan area. It is a separate city so the article should not give the impression that is a suburb of Miami. I've tweaked the wording.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 10:44, 19 May 2024 (UTC)

Demolition of school

Shouldn't the school's demolition be mentioned in the article?— Vchimpanzee • talk • contributions • 18:02, 15 June 2024 (UTC)

This has been in the news [1] and it should probably be mentioned.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 18:20, 15 June 2024 (UTC)
I checked the school's article. See if that looks good.— Vchimpanzee • talk • contributions • 18:29, 15 June 2024 (UTC)

"17 people" -- about one little correction, paying attention to "nuances"

Hi,

I've committed an edit to the first two or 3 sentences in the introductory paragraph. One of these were changing "killed 17 people" to killed 17 people, 14 students, aged 14-18, and 3 staff members...

The goal of this kind of edit is to prevent reading the article in a neutral, statistical manner. I would prefer using the term children, cause that's what who they were, in their teens, but anything is "fine" as long as it doesn't just read "people". Like, 17 people. Cause 17 people means something almost totally different than 17 children in their teens....

Hence the edit I made, as a suggestion.

Thanks for taking your time to make this article and to make it even better.
