HELP ME!
[edit]I'm crappy at translating to be honest! And the title came out wrong! HELP! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tigerdude9 (talk • contribs) 15:24, 28 September 2018 (UTC)
- Per Wikipedia:Translation#How to translate:
Machine translation almost always produces very low-quality results. Wikipedia consensus is that an unedited machine translation, left as a Wikipedia article, is worse than nothing.
If you tried using machine translation but don't understand the output, e.g.Air Force one trillion kinds of officers 14 groups Air-called canopy
, then delete that sentence entirely and leave the original-language sentence as a comment in the source code: <!-- comment -->. Happy editing, 59.149.124.29 (talk) 01:51, 29 September 2018 (UTC)

Park Yong-chul (pilot) → Park Yong-chul – replace the redirect to Korean Air Flight 801 with a newly-created article about its pilot 59.149.124.29 (talk) 01:54, 29 September 2018 (UTC) --Relisting. Dreamy Jazz 🎷 talk to me | my contributions 19:49, 6 October 2018 (UTC)

- @SshibumXZ and 59.149.124.29: queried move request Anthony Appleyard (talk) 04:38, 29 September 2018 (UTC)
- I would wait for the article to be reviewed before moving it, considering it has only two referencres, apologies! Regards, SshibumXZ (talk · contribs). 03:27, 29 September 2018 (UTC); edited 03:28, 29 September 2018 (UTC).
- Oppose firstly it would be Pak Yong-chol (pilot) not Park Yong-chul. Secondly the baseline for Pak Yong-chol on Ko.wp is the poet and Ibsen translator ko:박용철 http://www.koreatimes.co.kr/www/nation/2018/06/176_54202.html 朴龍喆 "Yong-chʻŏl Pak"- ... cannot see how this pilot is notable - should be merged with the crash or deleted. And a stub on the poet created. In ictu oculi (talk) 08:17, 29 September 2018 (UTC)
firstly it would be Pak Yong-chol (pilot)
. WP:COMMONNAME. No sources use that spelling for the pilot. Not sure about the poet. The cases I find offhand in which his poetry's been translated into English (e.g. Jaihiun Kim's Modern Korean Poetry and Ko Chang-soo's Best Loved Poems of Korea) spelled his name Park Yong-chul. He wasn't included in sources which forced McCune-Reischauer on everyone therein regardless of known personal preference or common usage like The Columbia Anthology of Modern Korean Poetry. 59.149.124.29 (talk) 09:28, 29 September 2018 (UTC)
- Well the poet is borderline notable, but the pilot is not notable at all. Suggest we merge or delete the pilot and Pak Yong-chol

- The poet argument is irrelevant as there is no article in the English Wikipedia for him. --Gonnym (talk) 10:07, 29 September 2018 (UTC)
- Notability in English is decided by sources not whether editors spend more time creating stubs on reality TV stars or Korean poets. In ictu oculi (talk) 09:08, 1 October 2018 (UTC)
- Scratch that, I've created the poet stub. It's easier to create content than argue about whether editors are creating the wrong content. In ictu oculi (talk) 09:22, 1 October 2018 (UTC)

- I've decided to just keep the title the same and not move the article. Tigerdude9 (talk) 16:53, 30 September 2018 (UTC)
- The decision whether or not to move the article depends on community consensus. Please don't remove the move notice while the discussion is ongoing. If you'd like to oppose the move request, you can leave a comment here headed by *'''Oppose''' with a reason referring to Wikipedia:Article titles policy. 59.149.124.29 (talk) 07:05, 1 October 2018 (UTC)
- @Dreamy Jazz: sorry, but what was the point in relisting this? Why not just close. In ictu oculi (talk) 20:18, 7 October 2018 (UTC)
- @In ictu oculi: There has only been two !votes cast (by yourself and Tigerdude9). I would have liked to at least one more vote cast before closing. Dreamy Jazz 🎷 talk to me | my contributions 20:37, 7 October 2018 (UTC)
- @Dreamy Jazz: I never formally voted (and I don't know how to cast !votes), but here is my vote: I will replace it as you were the one who requested it in the first place. To anyone who voted against this, I'm sorry if you are upset or offended, but don't worry, I respect everyone's opinion. There, case closed. Tigerdude9 (talk) 18:18, 10 October 2018 (UTC)
