It seems to me that a subsection devoted to the discussion of the motto of a fairly unremarkable Canadian high school is a little out of place in an article primarily devoted to the usage of a legal/financial term. I think a "see also" note at the bottom pointing to the high school page, where the motto is also discussed, would be more appropriate. Without objection I will enact this change. Good point, I changed it.

equally mistreated

[edit]

Unreferenced. Plus: it's logical, but is that phrase biased?:

"In the European Union, as the result of the Greek government-debt crisis, a retroactive Collective action clause passed by the Greek government with the support of the ECB and IMF, enabled the debtor (who also controlled the courts) to impose a 70% loss of the creditors, more than 75% of whom had voted in favour of the cut. In this case, pari passu means that all private-sector investors are equally mistreated." -Shtove 22:41, 27 June 2014 (UTC)

"per capita" in pari passu inheritance

[edit]

Your third paragraph example of pari passu inheritance is confusing. The fact that (child) A dies before (child) B will not delay or change the % inheritance of the testator's grandchildren. I think what you are trying to say is "if A dies before the testator, and B has more children after A's death but before the Testator's death, upon the Testator's death, the shares of all grandchildren will be smaller." The difference between per stipes and pari passu inheritance is that in a per stipes distribution the children of A (the Testator's grandchildren) will always divide their parent's share; in pari passu, the grandchildren's share will be equally decided by the number of grandchildren living at the Testator's death.
