Origin
[edit]This article says "It was an adaptation of their Maschinengewehr 08 gun intended for use on aircraft and zeppelins" but the MG 08 article itself contradicts this: "The Parabellum MG14 built by DWM was a lighter (22lbs) and quite different Maxim system gun...". I don't pretend to know which is right. 193.113.48.9 (talk) 14:54, 21 May 2009 (UTC)
- Both the MG 08 and the M 14 were based on the Maxim gun "elbow" (short-recoil) mechanism. Someone not using his real name (talk) 15:38, 30 June 2013 (UTC)
