Fastest Growing YouTube Talk Show Claim
[edit]The wiki article includes a claim attributed to Good Morning America that Ozy is the fastest growing YouTube talk show in history.
However, the NYT article posted on 9/26 states that the “fastest-growing” claim was in fact made by Ozy’s Watson on Good Morning America.
Thus, I propose the attribution of the claim to Good Morning America be removed and the sentence rewritten to clarify the claim was made by Ozy themselves. DietDrPhil (talk) 07:06, 28 September 2021 (UTC)
- I think it would be reasonable to just delete it entirely. That could apply to large tracts of this article which has clearly been authored by the company itself for self-promotion. Given the demonstrated mendacity of the company's principles I think we should feel free to Be Bold. Goatsnstoats (talk) 17:57, 28 September 2021 (UTC)

OZY (media company) → Ozy (media company) – Per WP:TITLETM, style an all-caps company name in title case White 720 (talk) 01:23, 1 October 2021 (UTC)

- Support – I've usually seen this as "Ozy" in MSM sources — MaxEnt 22:20, 2 October 2021 (UTC)
- Support - Per this New York Times article, "Ozy was named after 'Ozymandias,' the famous sonnet by Shelley" so it isn't an acronym. Trivialist (talk) 12:52, 3 October 2021 (UTC)

- Strongly Oppose There are also articles about the firm in which the name is spelled in all caps: OZY (example). I suggest that the NYTimes doing otherwise has more to with their archaic internal manual of style than anything else. Moreover, the company itself spells it in all caps (verify). WP:TITLETM notwithstanding, are we Wikipedians becoming so arrogant and presumptuous that we are now telling companies how to spell their own name?! What’s next? Tell Kraft Foods they have to change their name to Craft Foods because we editors at Wikipedia deem it so?

Thanks! — SpikeToronto 16:00, 4 October 2021 (UTC) - Support Pretty much all media I've seen covering the controversy does it in lower caps. Hemiauchenia (talk) 18:25, 4 October 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose - It is true that the company calls itself OZY[1] both in titles and in prose. Calling them "Ozy" is a type of deadnaming and shows a lack of respect for self-identification. Many media articles, such as the one cited by User:SpikeToronto above correctly spell "OZY". Just because a bunch of articles all of the sudden followed the NYT in exposing the con (while saying that they suspected it all along but without having the balls to do so), and followed the NYT's styling of "Ozy," does not mean it is not OZY. XavierItzm (talk) 14:20, 7 October 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose—I concur with both XavierItzm and SpikeToronto—¿philoserf? (talk) 14:33, 7 October 2021 (UTC)

- Support. OZY is simply a stylization and is not widely used by reliable sources. Some of the above oppose comments are offensive quite frankly. -- Calidum 12:46, 9 October 2021 (UTC)
Talk page moved OZY->Ozy, but content page remains OZY
[edit]It seems the encyclopedia page itself is still OZY, while the talk page moved to Ozy consistent with the result of the discussion. -- M.boli (talk) 01:58, 21 October 2021 (UTC)
- M.boli Working on it; since Ozy is currently a redirect I can't move the page without admin/pagemover help. Currently waiting on a technical move request. Invinciblewalnut (talk) 03:11, 21 October 2021 (UTC)
- Righto! Thanks. -- M.boli (talk) 03:37, 21 October 2021 (UTC)

Ozy (media company) → Ozy Media – Ozy Media was the company's name while Ozy was its primary web site White 720 (talk) 16:06, 5 March 2023 (UTC) This is a contested technical request (permalink). Previously, following a discussion that started on 2021-10-01, the page was moved from “OZY (media company)” to “Ozy (media company)”. “OZY” was inappropriate because it is a stylization, not an acronym or initialism, but many sources refer to the company as “Ozy Media” in Title Case.
I propose moving to “Ozy Media” or “Ozy” (with existing dab page moved to “Ozy (disambiguation)”). White 720 (talk) 20:59, 5 March 2023 (UTC)

- Support. Both names are used by press releases. Ozy Media is used by New York Times, Forbes, Deadline, and Variety. "Ozy" alone is used by BuzzFeed and New York Magazine. The former name seems slightly more common. NotBartEhrman (talk) 21:55, 20 March 2023 (UTC)
- Support per WP:NATURAL — both names are commonly used so go for the one w/o parens —pythoncoder (talk | contribs) 03:59, 22 March 2023 (UTC)
