Title
[edit]I think the title of this article should just be Ostrava hospital shooting, "shooting" rather than "attack" is more precise and is being used in English language media [1] [2] [3]. Compare with Uherský Brod shooting, Stoneman Douglas High School shooting and others. There's no need to state the year unless there has been another Ostrava hospital shooting. – filelakeshoe (t / c) 🐱 12:00, 10 December 2019 (UTC)
- I agree - that's standard. There's no advantage in having an unnecessarily long title. In addition, shooting is better because it's more precise than attack. Jim Michael (talk) 13:39, 10 December 2019 (UTC)
- We don't yet have information on what happened in the waiting room prior to the shooting. There are conflicting reports that he either immediately started killing or that he took hostages, ordered children away and then started killing. I'd wait for more information until it is confirmed that all victims died from a gun shot wound. Cimmerian praetor (talk) 13:51, 10 December 2019 (UTC)
- If that is the case, then the article should be renamed to Ostrava hospital attack. The current title is far too long. Prism55 (talk) 13:54, 10 December 2019 (UTC)

- OK, please retain the year in the name though. Cimmerian praetor (talk) 13:56, 10 December 2019 (UTC)
- I'd also support Ostrava hospital attack, and more or less ambivalent about keeping the year - I don't think it's necessary but it's not a big deal. – filelakeshoe (t / c) 🐱 13:59, 10 December 2019 (UTC)
- The year isn't needed - this is the only notable attack in Ostrava. Jim Michael (talk) 14:01, 10 December 2019 (UTC)

- 1945 Russian offensive in the area is most commonly known as Ostrava operation or Ostrava attack. While I agree there are no other Ostrava hospital attacks I'd prefer it to be clear that this has nothing to do with WW2 just from the name of the article.Cimmerian praetor (talk) 14:11, 10 December 2019 (UTC)
- I don't think that Ostrava hospital shooting or Ostrava hospital attack would make readers think it was part of WW2. Jim Michael (talk) 14:18, 10 December 2019 (UTC)
- I'd say that if we are to rename the article to Ostrava hospital attack a year is not needed - there are no other notable attacks on hospitals in Ostrava. If it is to be renamed to just Ostrava attack adding the year is a good idea - the article title would be 2019 Ostrava attack. I still support Ostrava hospital attack though.Prism55 (talk) 14:19, 10 December 2019 (UTC)

Name
[edit]Can we identify the perp yet? Currently only tabloid rags seem to be doing so, with one exception: Novojicinsky denik, who are still redacting his surname. I would normally say that plus one of the tabloid rags as cites would suffice for now but maybe it would be better to wait. – filelakeshoe (t / c) 🐱 15:03, 10 December 2019 (UTC)
Do we need to identify him by name? Is that in any way important to article? Naming the perp motivates further mass murders.

- It's standard to do so, as soon as reliable sources have reported it. Jim Michael (talk) 18:50, 10 December 2019 (UTC)
