What was the relation to Operation Plough?
[edit]What was the relation of HARDBOILED to Project Plough? Both envisioned troops in Norway to attack Axis forces and local industry. PLOUGH seems to have been jettisoned due to Sweden fearing the designated units may have attacked industrial targets in Sweden.
Or was PLOUGH HARDBOILED with non British forces?Foofbun (talk) 01:05, 26 February 2015 (UTC)
- I've not seen any sources link Plough to Hardboiled. From the looks of things Plough was a genuine operation idea, whilst Hardboiled was a deception - where both aimed to press the same buttons in Hitler's mind. The deception staff during the war were quite ad-hoc and secretive; it's certainly possible that knowledge of Plough inspired Hardboiled, although as I said no one has made that link. However, it was no secret that Hitler had a "thing" for Norway and it was generally accepted at Allied command that this should be exploited (hence the various operations aimed at Norway through the early war). --Errant (chat!) 09:34, 26 February 2015 (UTC)
which year ?
[edit]This project was surely initiated in december 1941 ? December 1942 makes no sense.Lathamibird (talk) 12:39, 26 February 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks... that was totally wrong :) Good catch. --Errant (chat!) 21:53, 26 February 2015 (UTC)
Some background info is needed
[edit]The article could use a little background info on the vital importance of Norway to Germany. Losing Norway would have been catastrophic to Germany, a fact not obvious to casual readers who come across the article. __209.179.35.60 (talk) 00:34, 27 February 2015 (UTC)
