this page could use a map

[edit]

It's not easy to find out where this took place without reading the page. If you're not familiar with the location of the places named, you still need to look them up to find out. A map would really help with this.

2nd Guards Tank Corps losses to air attack 8 July

[edit]

The article currently quotes Glantz claiming 50 tanks lost to German air attack on 8 July. However, the corps only lost 67 tanks destroyed or under repair in the entire week of heavy fighting between 5 and 12 July according to Demolishing the Myth by Zamulin (assuming all 10 tanks non operational at the start of the battle had been repaired and the 47 reserve tanks had been consumed, otherwise the losses are much lower). Since the Soviet accounts don't mention heavy losses that day, it's unlikely that the vast majority of the tanks were lost to air attack that day. Other research that I can't remember the source of also suggests that the Luftwaffe massively over claimed their success, with probably far fewer than 10 tanks being put out of action. 2406:5A00:8A12:DC00:D4C1:B6E8:AB0F:4175 (talk) 10:42, 11 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
