Proposed move
[edit]The RAR battle honour 'Hat Dich' actually relates to Operation Goodwood (3 December 1968 − 19 February 1969), while this article deals with Operation Camden in 1969. As Camden is no where near as notable as Goodwood (hence the award of the battle honour) I propose moving this article to Operation Camden. Alternatively I propose moving to Second Battle of Hat Dich.
I am currently writing an article on the other Battle of Hat Dich offline... taking a while as it was an extensive operation. When I am finished I will upload it (although if we create a redirect we are going to need admin assistance... sigh).
Anyway what do you reckon about the proposed move? Cheers. Anotherclown (talk) 07:57, 18 October 2009 (UTC)
- Agree: I have no problems moving the article into a larger article called Operation Camden, but if there if no real "Battle of Hat Dich" and the battle honour only relates to the defense of the Hat Dich area, then the other article should be included into a larger article called Operation Goodwood. - After running a search on "Operation Camden", there appears to be at least three operations known as "Operation Camden" during the Vietnam War. Two Australian operations - 1967 & 1969 and an American operation in 1967. Regards Newm30 (talk) 02:48, 20 October 2009 (UTC)
- Agree: The battle that led to a battle honour is the most notable battle (especially as so few Australian battle honours were awarded during Vietnam), so I think that what you propose above makes sense. Move this article to Operation Camden and turn this article into one about Operation Goodwood. Unfortunately I don't have any sources to help you with your task, though. Sorry. — AustralianRupert (talk) 08:50, 18 October 2009 (UTC)
- Interesting. I'm still scratching my noodle on this one but am now leaning towards renaming this one to Second Battle of Hat Dich if we can agree on that. The earlier battle which resulted in the battle honour could be First Battle of Hat Dich and we could create a disambig page etc.Anotherclown (talk) 10:11, 25 October 2009 (UTC)
