The result of the move request was: not moved; no judgement on job shop scheduling, for which I recommend a separate RM or a bold move. (closed by non-admin page mover) Lennart97 (talk) 10:38, 25 June 2021 (UTC)
Open-shop scheduling → Open shop scheduling – Remove the dash, for consistency with similar pages job shop scheduling and flow shop scheduling. Erel Segal (talk) 10:28, 18 June 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose – First of all there's no dash. The hyphen suggests that this is about scheduling an open shop, as opposed to an open version of shop scheduling. So nom would need to say if the latter interpretation is what was intended. I see quite a few hyphenated versions of these in sources, which I assume means the authors wanted to cue the reader that it's the former interpretation that's intended. If that's correct, let's not deny the reader that cue. And if it's not correct, show us. Dicklyon (talk) 02:57, 19 June 2021 (UTC)
- Pretty sure the dashes are useful and meaningful, helpful to the reader. I think we need to move Job shop scheduling to Job-shop scheduling instead. I fixed Flow-shop scheduling already. Nom should review MOS:HYPHEN to understand why. Dicklyon (talk) 03:58, 19 June 2021 (UTC)
- OK. So let's move Job shop scheduling too as you suggested. --Erel Segal (talk) 19:09, 19 June 2021 (UTC)
- Closer can do that, or ask at WP:RMTR; or I can ask after the close. Dicklyon (talk) 04:50, 20 June 2021 (UTC)

- Oppose. This is not an open form of shop scheduling, to be distinguished from closed shop-scheduling; it is scheduling of open shops. The hyphen is necessary to disambiguate the fact that then adjective "open" modifies the shop rather than the scheduling. Job shop scheduling is not quite ambiguous in the same way, because "job" is not an adjective. —David Eppstein (talk) 06:50, 20 June 2021 (UTC)
- Adjective or not, job is being used as a modifier here, and the compound job shop is also being used as a modifier of scheduling, so it's pretty much the same deal. Dicklyon (talk) 01:05, 21 June 2021 (UTC)
