North-South routing
[edit]It's been awhile since I've been on South Bass Island (1990), but when I was there SR-357 had no directional markers. I assume the "north-south" reference in the article refers to how the straight-line diagram is set up. If there are still no directional markers along SR-357, that part of the article should probably be altered to reflect that. Mapsax 00:03, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
Post-truncation ferries
[edit]My edit noting the 1973 moving of the northern docks of the Catawba Island-to-South Bass Island ferry may open up ambiguity because subsequent editions of the ODOT map show a ferry route from the west (south) end of 357 to Port Clinton, though it was most likely not considered an extension of 357 nor was it definite that it connected directly to SR 163, though some might consider that "state highway access" on a larger scale. I started this process because of hazy OR: On my only trip there in 1990 (see above) I vaguely remember a tour guide stating that there was a large ferry dock at the south end of 357 on the island, but it burned down, which is why the ferry docked on the south side of the island by then. However, I can find no record of the fire online nor the dock rearranging; the closest that I've come was the ODOT map. But as I've said, the ferry routes become convoluted soon after, and there is no information regarding "official" connections vs. private companies' lines, and there is also the issue of scale and symbol congestion (it's not clear whether Port Clinton-to-Kelleys Island routes "island hopped" with a stop on South Bass along the way or not). Can anyone with a better knowledge of local history clear this up? Mapsax (talk) 15:20, 29 August 2013 (UTC)
