Or maybe Octopus (amusement park ride) but that seems cumbersome; Octopus (carnival ride) maybe? To me this is a generic term for that certain kind of vomit-inducing ride with spinnable cars on eight rising and falling arms rotating around a central axis; no article exists yet from what I can see of this page, maybe I'd best find the appropriate amusement-park-related WikiProject and request up the article. The double-car version also got called Octopus, but if painted black and with maybe a certain shape of arm it was also called hte Spider, sometimes the Black Widow. Nasty, never did like it, and remember seeing spirals of vomit from cars high in the air....but it's certainly a common usage, I'd imagine North America-wide due to the travelling nature of the carnival outfits and only so many builders of such rides (maybe it was patented/licensed, I don't know). Just out curiosity I'll drop by Salt and pepper shaker (if that's not a redlink) to see if that old standby ride is there, wherever that dismabiguates to (if it does). This - Octopus as a ride - may be a brand name, I don't know.....Skookum1 (talk) 03:13, 27 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

OK, it exists as teh bluelink shows; I didn't see it on the page overleaf so pardon me for making a fuss if it's already there; otherwise I'll add it and also make those redirects/possible options for disambiguation.Skookum1 (talk) 03:15, 27 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Removed entries

[edit]

The following entries fail to meet the Individual entries requirements; perhaps there changes beyond the Dab pages will make such entries acceptable.

* A way of preparing hotdogs
The article lk'd in the following was deleted a year ago on AfD, by unanimous consensus, and has no other red links, so it is a serious longshot.
* Octopus (politics), a form of government identified by Danny Casolaro

Rewording may also be required.

Removed films

[edit]

Excuse me why have you removed my contribution

  • Octopus (2015 film) a short live action Japanese film by Isamu Hirabayashi
  • Octopus (Kannada) (2015 film) An India film by Annaiah P starring Kishore Kumar G.

They are real films see here's the India Film Octopus (Kannada) 2015 on Amazon Prime at this link https://www.amazon.com/Octopus-Kannada-Kishoor/dp/B07YQZS1GT/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=octopus+kannada&qid=1615668862&sr=8-1

Isamu Hirabayashi did make the Japanese short film Octopus 2015 film but sadly it's a lost film.

Please restore my contribution I did my research. CrosswalkX (talk) 20:56, 13 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

We are not necessarily disputing that these films exist, but they need to have actual wikipedia articles in order to be appropriate entries here. Please see WP:WTAF or WP:DABYESNO. -- Fyrael (talk) 05:04, 14 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Octopus's Garden

[edit]

My inclination was to believe that there is so much interest in The Beatles that there must be significatn use of "Octopus" to mean the song. An excess of caution is often a good thing: that was my reason for inspecting the first hundred hits for

Octopus Beatles

What i found is that those 100 included a notation by the owners of "The Rare Exception" that they had previously called themselves Octopus's Garden, and two pages for "The Octopus", a Beatles-themed club or restaurant. The rest were all direct references to the song, perhaps with the expression of the possessive botched, but using both words. So i'm moving it down to the See alsos: it's unlikely that users will hope that "Octopus" will take them straight to the song, so those looking for that song by doing so are not the appropriate users of the Dab, and are just lucky we take care of hapless users.

Octopus publishing

[edit]

There is a publishing company called "Octopus books" - maybe this could go in the article, although this publisher does not appear to have an article in Wikipedia. Vorbee (talk) 09:29, 22 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
