Kwomais Point Etymology
[edit]Conflicting sources here. The book, "British Columbia Place Names" by G. P. V. Akrigg, Helen B. Akrigg, says it is a Straits Salish or Halkomelem word meaning "dog face" (page 146, freely available through a Google Books search). "Know BC" suggested people retconned the etymology or something for the more marketable definition of "place of vision"...
May need some more research and reflection on that, the current dead link source doesn't appear to have a source itself when it worked either. 2600:4040:7A61:600:3010:18B2:8F72:22C8 (talk) 02:16, 25 July 2022 (UTC)
