Nonsensical and superfluous article

[edit]

This article has been written by a German user who obviously did not know the meaning of the term orphans and vulnerable children (OVC), which is widely used in English, and here in Wikipedia. There are hundreds of smaller and larger OVC projects running in many developing countries. The article describes just one example of an OVC project, a smaller-sized one in Ethiopia. (It is even unclear if this project is still alive.) Hence, a proper title would be, for instance, OVC project in Adigrat, Ethiopia. The title should be changed in such a manner.

However, all the article's information is also contained in Student Initiative Rahel, which was written by the same user and is about the same project in Ethiopia. This means that the current article OVC project is superfluous and should simply be deleted. One subject is to be treated in one article, not in two articles containing the same information. I therefore strongly recommend the deletion of the article.

A new article about OVC and OVC projects could then be written. The proper title would be Orphans and vulnerable children. This article should contain information not about a single and small OVC project but general information about orphans and vulnerable children. --Lektor w (talk) 06:16, 30 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

PS. The article is also not up to date since the Student Initiative Rahel, which had funded the OVC project in Adigrat (Ethiopia) has beed terminated some years ago. The text is misleading because is suggests the initiative to be still alive, which is not the case. --Lektor w (talk) 06:51, 30 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

As indicated above, I have now replaced the article by a redirect to Orphans and vulnerable children. No information is lost since the same information is contained in Student Initiative Rahel. Lektor w (talk) 14:24, 4 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
