Talk:Nutrition/to do

I propose deleting all of the "to do" list and adding these new items. David notMD (talk) 01:10, 7 July 2017 (UTC)
- Add alcohol as a source of calories. Mention that beer and wine also contain carbohydrate calories. Include alcohol, sugar, high-fructose corn syrup and vegetable oil in a section on Empty calories.
- Maintain neutral point of view while describing that a wide range of diets, from vegan to high percentage animal derived can provide almost all essential nutrients.
- Provide concise description of function of nutrient-containing dietary supplements. Provide link to Dietary Supplement article. Do not try to cover individual nutrients as supplements.
- To timeline, add the history of recognition of the essential minerals
- Consider deleting all mention of stuff that is not about nutrition. That means keep fiber, keep alcohol (its a calorie source) but not phytochemicals. There are literally thousands of phytochemical compounds, but no strong case has been made for any being essential.
- Trying to provide prevalence of deficiencies of individual nutrients is beyond scope of this article, especially as different by country, by age, by sex, by socio-economic status. There could be a concise section defining EARs, RDAs, AIs, and how the NHANES surveys identify populations that are not reaching recommended intake.
- Cover nutrient needs for exercise
- Store cut sections at Talk:Nutrition/cuts in case someone wants to make a case for restoration.
