Logic for Category

[edit]

Hi ..I see you undid the revision I made to revise category from National Register of Historic Places to Commercial buildings on the National Register of Historic Places. I did so not because every building was on the NRHP and a commercial building, but because the district is best categorized and described as a district consisting of a commercial core. I just wanted you to be aware that there was some reason applied to the change and it was not done irresponsibly. Those using categories are probably best served with a more specific category. I view it as applying subject categories when describing a series of archival records (which I happen to do for a living) or cataloguing a book. I guess Wikipedia has much broader interpretations of subject categorizations.--Pubdog (talk) 01:22, 14 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Don't worry, I know you meant well. I think we really ought to start classifying historic districts by type as well (e.g., "Downtown historic districts", "Residential historic districts", "Industrial historic districts", "Rural historic districts" "Sea/lake/riverside historic districts" and so forth).
