Communicator
[edit]Why are the 9300 and 9300i not considered Communicators? Please give a source for this assertion. --Hansh 17:43, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
- Nowhere are they referred to as 'Communicators' on the Nokia website or in any Nokia documentation. You can't really cite a reference for what something isn't, but something like [1] this might make the point? Wibbble 21:53, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
- Thank you for the clarification. It seems that Nokia only sometimes refers to it as a "smartphone" while almost everyone else just calls it a Communicator, since it 'looks' like one, but... ah well. Perhaps it is so that anyone looking for an actual Communicator would be compelled to buy a more expensive 9500. --Hansh 00:04, 6 July 2007 (UTC)
- I don't think it's anything as involved as that - there's been some weird marketing things at Nokia over the years. IIRC, the 9300i isn't significantly cheaper than the 9500 - it's essentially the same device, just without a camera (saves a little) and smaller (costs a lot). The new E90 is definitely branded as a communicator, though. Wibbble 23:54, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

== Nowhere on Nokia's website does it state that the Nokia E7-00 carries the 'Communicator' brand. It might be a similar concept, but then again so is the N97 in appearance. Remember that the 9300 series were virtually identical to the 9500 (minus camera and wifi though wifi was included later in the 9300 series), but the 9300 DID NOT carry the Communicator brand. Unless it can be proved otherwise (the reference link for the E7 is broken) I suggest removal of the E7's details from this page.109.152.152.34 (talk) 11:03, 11 October 2010 (UTC) Jermani, 11 Oct 2010 @ 1102pm GMT.
I still make my assertion that nowhere on Nokia's website does it state that the Nokia E7 *IS BEING MARKETED AS THE NEW COMMUNICATOR*. The reference to Nokia's blog is nearly six months old and obviously has not been followed up by Nokia. The E7 is NOT, repeat NOT listed as a communicator therefore reference to this has been removed.86.148.63.240 (talk) 21:57, 7 March 2011 (UTC)
== My suggestion is to make the 9000 series (communicator series) the main article and so the 9300 can be added on the overview without much discussion. --RoyimDB (talk) 12:31, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
Marketspeak- encyclopedic?
[edit]- Re the above- is it really encyclopedic to follow "weird marketing things" like which device Nokia calls a "Communicator"? --Treekids (talk) 19:11, 30 January 2010 (UTC)
Considering that the subject is Nokia COMMUNICATOR then it is crucial to be accurate. The term 'Communicator' is applied by Nokia; if something is not called a Communicator it is not a Communicator. The same would be true if Apple produced a new MP3 player and did not call it an iPod. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.148.61.131 (talk) 10:05, 24 December 2011 (UTC)
The Saint
[edit]one of these is used in the movie The Saint with Val Kilmer. is that too trivial? 67.176.160.47 (talk) 18:43, 9 September 2010 (UTC)
confusing...
[edit]The latest two Communicators are part of the Nokia Eseries.
On the table, two latest are 9500 and E90. Of those, E90 clearly belongs to that series, but 9500? Probably not? Or has there been another one on the table which has been since removed? I can't explain that otherwise. But, that claim in the article seems not to be true. 85.217.21.105 (talk) 02:41, 18 August 2011 (UTC)
The E90 is part of the E-series, the 9500 is not as the E series did not exist when this handset was released. It is irrelevant anyway: the article is about the handsets branded as Communicators by Nokia; whether these are E-series handsets or not is irrelevant in this regard. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.148.61.131 (talk) 10:07, 24 December 2011 (UTC)
Opinions and original research
[edit]Should redlinks in "See also" section (which assert "adopted Nokia's design" and "adopted Nokia's design and name") be removed? Cheers Cl3phact0 (talk) 08:34, 3 October 2022 (UTC)
