Dahl's son
[edit]Nikolai Dahl was survived in Beirut by his son, Nicholas Dahl, with whom I took cello lessons for several years. Nicholas died in Beirut in the course of the 1980's. So, there is no doubt that Dr. Dahl ended up in Beirut, as amny white Russians of his time did. Kamal Salibi, Emeritus Professor of History, American University of Beirut, Beirut, Lebanon.
- Here's some more OR - I also took cello lessons from Nikolai Jr (he spelt his last name "Dale") around 1970, when he was already quite old. He told me that before the Russian Revolution, he had been 2nd Cellist in the Kiev Opera Orchestra. He told me that he fled Russia after the revolution, ended up in Bombay (now Mumbai) where he learned to play saxophone to earn his living in a nightclub. And that he'd spent some years in South America, I think Uruguay. When I knew him he lived in Brummana. Tim Bray (talk) 20:19, 3 February 2022 (UTC)
viola
[edit]I always tought that he played the viola, not cello. Is that true? OboeCrack (talk) 00:14, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
