Vandalism

[edit]

This article has been vandalized several times in the last few days, with irrelevant, unsourced, and almost certainly defamatory comments like "Nicole Couch is currently is the process of constructing the website www.phantomblue.net, cleaning her house and waxing her bikini line" and "she inevitably began skipping all her classes so she could stalk Paul Gilbert, stay home and practice and watch her favorite television programs."

The most recent valid revision appears to be http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Nicole_Couch&oldid=292110370 from May 24, 2009. I suggest reverting to that copy and making any necessary changes from there. Tim Pierce (talk) 13:53, 16 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

References

[edit]

Theroadislong Reference 1. is for her former band Phantom Blue 2. Shrapnel Records 3. Geffen records 4. not sure if needed. Also her pic is a new updated pic she took herself so she owns it and owning her label gives me exclusive use of it I do not know how to do the copyrights but she is full owner I have full legal use of as her label since she owns it. Theroadislong Also she is coming to the UK in January providing there are no government restrictions imposed and she will be recording a new solo EP at Studio 49 in Pembrokeshire Waleswith producer Nick Swannell Nicole will be co-producing as well as playing guitar and vocals. We expect the EP to be released in 2021 we have no release date as of yet as we must abide by the pandemic and government rules. it can be worded however so it does not sound promotional Thank you Philip H Taylor (talk) 08:51, 21 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia only reports on what independent, reliable sources have said, so this will require a source first. Theroadislong (talk) 08:55, 21 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
(talk) Thank you for your help I can get the local media to do an article about her coming but that may not be until we have a date that she is arriving so we may not have that until December or January due to the pandemic I dont want the Press jumping the gun just in case there are travel restrictions Philip H Taylor (talk) 09:05, 21 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
No thanks that would be a blatant miss-use of Wikipedia, press releases are not reliable sources and we are not here to promote your clients career. Theroadislong (talk) 09:34, 21 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Theroadislong It would not be a press release it would be the Herald News as well as magazines. Also not sure if this is a citation that van be used for GIT https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Musicians_Institute Philip H Taylor (talk) 09:42, 21 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Built to Perform

[edit]

Graeme Bartlett Thank you for your help. Here is a citation for Built To Perform I have 2 sources you can use either one or both? 1- https://earofnewt.com/2017/10/13/album-review-phantom-blue-built-to-perform-1994/ 2. https://www.metal-archives.com/reviews/Phantom_Blue/Built_to_Perform/14879/ Philip H Taylor (talk) 09:41, 26 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Couch is not mentioned in either of them? Theroadislong (talk) 09:47, 26 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
They could be used as references in Built to Perform, or as external links. If as references, what text do you wish to have them on? Graeme Bartlett (talk) 11:03, 26 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Graeme Bartlett Hi, since she wrote most of the album can it be used as a reference fot Built To Perform? Philip H Taylor (talk) 23:33, 29 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
That is what I am saying, but what text do you wish it to reference, and they do not mention Nicole Couch, they are not much use for this article here. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 23:41, 29 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I thought it would help this article. I am trying to get it sorted so that block is gone. I see someone deleted her birth date and where she grew up which seemed to add more to that block. I dont know how to citation that unless it is mentioned in her labels artist page where she grew up. her birth date was there but now it is gone. redirect

[edit]

This should probably be a redirect to Phantom Blue as there are insufficient independent sources to warrant a separate article. Theroadislong (talk) 16:31, 1 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

My label is directed to nicole couch wikipedia page we have nothing to do with her old band phanto blue if you refuse to help delete the article and remove my record label from being re directed to any wikipedia page if we can not get help then we do not wish to have an article and we do not wish it directed anywhere i rather a red link Philip H Taylor (talk) 22:16, 1 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Philip H Taylor: I've moved your above post to this discussion thread because this seems to be what you're asking about. Wikipedia's policies and guidelines only apply to content on Wikipedia. Moreover, Wikipedia article aren't the property of the subjects they're written about; so, neither the subjects of articles nor their representatives have any final editorial control of a Wikipedia article's content.
The links you add to your label's official website aren't of any concern to Wikipedia and you can add or remove them as you please. If you don't want to link to a redirected Wikipedia article from your label's website; you can remove the link from the website. Another thing you could probably do is create your own profile for Couch on your website. You could even use content added to Wikipedia as long as you do so as explained in Wikipedia:Reusing Wikipedia content.
As for article deletion, please read Wikipedia:Deletion policy for more details. Article can and often are deleted, but that's only when they are found to not be in accordance with relevant Wikipedia policies and guidelines, and almost never because the subject of the article or their representatives simply wants the article deleted. -- Marchjuly (talk) 23:04, 1 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Marchjuly (talk) we do not want any articles deleted only updated as far as my label i do not want an article as i do not need one as its to much of a head ache i only want my artist wikipedia article to be up to date but leave it i dont care its past caring no one wishes to help all i ask is you do not delete her pic go ahead leave all her old info on it i am past caring but please leave her article up with the pic which i own. what proof do you want from me i already complied with the requirement of an administrator who i messaged to ask why your making a big deal and going against what he told me thats why he re approved the pic. i hold an exclusive contract with the artist i own her pic i do not know what you want your just causing more problems that have been resolved. all i asked was help to update so it is current who else would know besides myself? Philip H Taylor (talk) 23:14, 1 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
If you want to notify another editor of a post, please read Wikipedia:Notifications for details on how to properly do so; there's an easier way that the way you're currently using to do so. In addition, please try an indent your comments to make things easier to follow.
The easiest way to resolve the issues what the image are as I explained below in #Infobox image. The photo won't be deleted as long as you email Wikimedia OTRS. That's that only certain way for sure to ensure it's licensing is never going to be challenged again. I understand Graeme Bartlett has been trying to help you sort things out with respect to the image, but I still think OTRS verification would be the best thing here. I've posted about this on Graeme's talk page and have asked him to comment.
If you want help in updating the article, please read WP:PSCOI#Steps for engagement and WP:COIADVICE. There are ways for you to seek assistance in trying to get the article updated, but any changes you'd like to have made are going to need to be assessed as to whether they meet relevant Wikipedia policies and guidelines. If they do, the change will be made; if not, it won't be made. You can make this process easier if you follow the guidance given in Wikipedia:Edit requests. -- Marchjuly (talk) 23:34, 1 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

BIO Nicole Couch was born in Chicago, Illinois on 18 August 1969 and raised in rural Mississippi and Memphis, Tennessee.

Nicole began studying piano around three years of age and around 5,6, she began studying piano serious with tutors focusing primarily on classical pieces.

Nicole tested out of high school, received a diploma and left for California to attend GIT musicians institute. Nicole stumbled upon her private instructor, PAUL GILBERT and his shred style of playing and dedicated herself to a minimum of 5 hours of practice per day.

Nicole's skills progressed quickly and she was introduced to the remarkably talented guitarist Michelle Meldrum who was already established in the LA thrash metal scene.

Michelle had also developed her shred Guitar skills. They were huge fans of Racer X and decided they wanted to form an all female version of Racer X. they immediately began writing material and found their fellow band mates through friends. And formed Phantom Blue.

They played one show as a band at the Troubadour in 1988 and sent a demo and were signed to Shrapnel records and by autumn of 1989 they released a full album and were headed to Europe for a three month tour.

During this time, Don Dokken, currently was working on a solo project with Geffen records and Tom Zutaut, walked into their rehearsal behind a music store in Redonddo beach CA. he approached them with his intent to invest time and money into their band with the goal of helping them obtain a deal with a major label.

He paid for the five of them to have weekly training at a gym and paid a custom designer to make clothes for them he also arranged a showcase for them at the Roxy with three major label executives in attendance.

Not having management to guide them they took their time to decide but eventually signed a 7 album contract with Geffen Records.

Not done for now, please copy the article to a sandbox and add inline sources if you could (see the tutorial on citing sources). I am unable to read Greek so I can't verify which of these statements are sourced. Additionally there is promotionalism there, such as introduced to the remarkably talented guitarist. Baidu is not a reliable source. – Thjarkur (talk) 21:39, 1 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I do not know how to use sandbox cant the pages be translated? as i saw them translated but when i add links they revert back to greek Philip H Taylor (talk) 21:47, 1 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Yes the sources can be translated but demonstrating which source is being used for what statement makes it far quicker to verify. You don't need to use your sandbox, you can also just add links to the ends of your paragraphs above. Another source would need to be found in Baidu's place. Most of this text does however just belong on the band's main article, so as mentioned in the above section it might suffice to merge this article there. – Thjarkur (talk) 22:08, 1 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
That band is hers she formed it and gas not been on that band for 30 years she is on a new label and her pic WE OWN AND it has been approved by an admin i do not understand why your making things difficult there is no mention of her pic that has been resolved we are asking to update her article i do not see what the problem is Philip H Taylor (talk) 22:13, 1 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox image

Graeme Bartlett this person is saying that nicoles pic is up for deletion again? we done what was required to add it why is it being deleted again? Philip H Taylor (talk) 22:31, 1 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Philip H Taylor: The photo on Facebook page you're citing as a source and the photo on the label's website are not identical per se (the label website one is in color) and their quality is quite low. It's not clear if either is the original source of the photo, so there are concerns about the accuracy of the license. The best way for you to resolve this is to simply send a WP:CONSENT email to Wikimedia OTRS so that proper verification can be made by an Wikimedia OTRS volunteer.
One thing you should understand is that Wikipedia only accepts, for the most part, images that are licensed in accordance with Wikipedia:Copyrights#Guidelines for images and other media files. In other words, Wikipedia only accepts images whose licensing basically allows anyone anywhere in the world to download the image at anytime and use for any purpose, including commercial and derivative uses, without needing additional permission. Moreover, once something is uploaded to Wikipedia under such a license, there's no going back.
Your intent might just be to upload an image to use in the article about Couch, but basically what you're doing is making the image available for anyone to use in any way (as long as they do so in accordance with the {{cc-0}} license) even if that means in a way the neither you nor Couch approve of or benefit from. You can't limit the image's use to only Wikipedia and you can't limit its use to only non-commercial ways. So, in order to OK only protect not only Wikipedia but also the rights of copyright holders, some formal verification is often needed just to make sure. If you're the copyright holder of the image, just email OTRS so that it's clear you understand what uploading the image to Wikipedia means. -- Marchjuly (talk) 22:42, 1 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
The permission was granted on the web site displaying the image, as listed in the permission section. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 23:06, 8 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
