Obituary
[edit]I have removed the repeated use of (sic) from the obituary, on the basis that most people will understand that it is written in 18th century English.Thomas Peardew (talk) 12:14, 27 February 2014 (UTC)
Gout of the Stomach
[edit]So what is this considered to be ? There are a number of mortal stomach complaints --- as a non-Jacobite no doubt the fellow was a rogue, but I wouldn't wish stomach cancer even on the worst Whig. Claverhouse (talk) 13:05, 1 May 2018 (UTC)
Picture
[edit]Is there a portrait available showing what Hawksmoor himself looked like?

- Sadly, Sdrawkcab, no there isn’t. A portrait supposedly of Hawksmoor here, is actually the architect James Gibbs. There is a bust of him on the internet, but I’m unsure of the copyright status of photographed busts. I have seen a painted portrait of Hawksmoor, but only a monochrome photo in a very old book. I will try and see if I can find it, it doesn’t seem to be on the internet. Giano (talk) 18:41, 7 October 2019 (UTC)
- ah I see, thanks for clearing that up.Sdrawkcab (talk) 18:48, 7 October 2019 (UTC)
