Who invented the Newton disc ?
[edit]The article rises doubts that Isaac Newton would have used the disk himself. So who invented the Newton disc ?
gallica.fr makes it easy to find the first occurrence of an expression in their very large collection. « Disque de Newton » appears first in a catalogue of devices to teach physics, chemistry and math in 1852 (3 years before Maxwell published about combining primary colours on a spinning disk). Is there any English occurrence before that ? I found no mention of a Newton disc in the Oxford English Dictionnary. PolBr (talk) 14:58, 3 January 2020 (UTC)
