Relation to Warner Bros.

Time Warner owns both Newline and Warner Bros. Is there any reason these two moviw producers aren't merged. Perhaps there could be a section explaining the relationship? Ronan.evans 05:33, 23 July 2006 (UTC)

Notable Films

Notable films reduction

This section reads more like every film New Line has released, not those films that are of note for either box office (ie Rush Hour), critical (ie A History of Violence) or both (ie Return of the King) impact. Mondo Trasho

New Line Cinema may not have distributed Mondo Trasho. In any case, Multiple Maniacs (1970), Waters' next feature, is the first Waters film that IMDB indicates was distributed by New Line. Is there any source to indicate that Mondo Trasho was distributed by New Line, contrary to the IMDB listing? The question of whether it was Waters' "first feature" is debatable as well.zadignose 18:04, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

Can't find any info for New Line's involvment, however there are no other feature length films that predate Mondo Trasho so that pretty much makes it the defacto first feature length film he made. RoyBatty42 19:46, 23 January 2007 (UTC)
You're probably right about the "first feature" designation. However, I've gone ahead and removed Mondo Trasho from the list until it can be established that New Line actually distributed the film. zadignose 02:17, 27 January 2007 (UTC)

Category tag vs listing here

If you tempted to add a title simply because you know that it was released by New Line but cannot come up with a justification, perhaps you will consider going to that film's own article page and adding the [[Category:New Line Cinema films|]] category tag instead. If a reader wants to see a comprehensive list of all films New Line has released, then they can easily hit that link to do it. Thanks. RoyBatty42 19:58, 8 February 2007 (UTC)

Re: the LotR movie profits

Where can I read about the allegations made against New Line Cinema; that they use creative accounting to make the LotR movie profits disappear to not have to pay first Peter Jackson and now Tolkien Enterprises? I would be interested in which New Line executive that took this step, and his reasoning why an audit that could clear up the facts hasn't been allowed and why he (or she) is putting the studio's reputation among moviegoers and Tolkien-fans at risk?

Furthermore, what was the result of Jackson and New Line settling out of court?

None of this is mentioned in the article, please add links; background information; current developments; historical precedents etc. All information that I feel is very relevant to the New Line article.

I have performed the requested split. Please only add a very small selection of movies to the section, such as highest grossing movies or successful franchises. This article looks a lot better now and we have room to improve other nonlist sections. JayKeaton (talk) 21:23, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

Shaye & Lynne

Shaye and Lynne stepped down in Feb 2008. This is noted in the text of the article, but they are still listed as Key People in the infobox. Are they in fact still working with the company? Or do we need to change the infobox? LordAmeth (talk) 16:38, 3 February 2009 (UTC)

New Line's sale to Turner; accurate information

New Line's timeline when it said that Turner acquired NLC in 1993 was incorrect. According to the sources I've found, Turner was making negotiations to acquire them and Castle Rock Entertainment in 1993. The acquisition was completed on January 28, 1994.
