Structure of the disambiguation page
[edit]Generations of the Israeli Netanyahu family should not be listed in order of generation as if this were a family tree. If it warrants, an article should be written about the family, similar to the Kennedy family or Rothschild family. VanEman (talk) 03:18, 11 February 2016 (UTC)

The result of the move request was: Moved. Rough consensus that there is a primary redirect here — Amakuru (talk) 17:43, 18 January 2017 (UTC)
Netanyahu → Netanyahu (surname) – It probably makes sense to redirect Netanyahu to Benjamin Netanyahu, per WP:PRIMARYREDIRECT. (Since this happens to be a WP:SETINDEX page, I'm requesting a move to Netanyahu (surname) instead of Netanyahu (disambiguation), the latter of which technically shouldn't exist.) Based on pageviews (that Benjamin Netanyahu receives), he is the clear WP:PTOPIC. I doubt such a move would fall into WP:RECENTISM; all the Netanyahus listed on this page are Israelis, and most (I presume) are related to the Israeli leader. He is on course to become the longest-serving Israeli leader in history, so long-term significance is unlikely to be an issue. A similar arrangements exists for Erdoğan (redirecting to the Turkish leader) with Erdoğan (name).--Nevé–selbert 21:22, 8 January 2017 (UTC)
- Support - I agree that he is definitely the primary topic and most people who wind up here would be looking for him. Additionally we can redirect Netanyahu (disambiguation) to Netanyahu (surname) just to be safe. - GalatzTalk 21:10, 9 January 2017 (UTC)
- To clarify per the question below for StevenJ81, I am supporting moving Netanyahu to Netanyahu (surname), then changing Netanyahu to redirect to Benjamin Netanyahu. As an aside it I mentioned how Netanyahu (disambiguation) would then redirect to Netanyahu (surname) - GalatzTalk 22:42, 9 January 2017 (UTC)
- Question: is the proposal to move Netanyahu to Benjamin Netanyahu or to Netanyahu (surname)? And Galatz, what are you supporting? StevenJ81 (talk) 22:19, 9 January 2017 (UTC)
- @StevenJ81: The latter, the proposal is to redirect Netanyahu to Benjamin Netanyahu, as a primary redirect.--Nevé–selbert 22:37, 9 January 2017 (UTC)
- @Neve-selbert: Sorry. Got confused. StevenJ81 (talk) 22:42, 9 January 2017 (UTC)
- Mildly oppose. Maybe I'm just older than you guys, but Yonatan Netanyahu, commander of Operation Entebbe, still seems to me to be a prominent enough secondary target to leave this alone. StevenJ81 (talk) 22:42, 9 January 2017 (UTC)
- If, in fact, the redirect happens, I'm fine with the disambiguation page being called "...(surname)" rather than "...(disambiguation)". Also, if the redirect happens, I would strongly like to see Yonatan Netanyahu, as well as Netanyahu (surname), get hatnotes at Benjamin Netanyahu. StevenJ81 (talk) 22:46, 9 January 2017 (UTC)
- @StevenJ81:I was thinking the same thing at first, however I really only hear Yonatan mentioned around the anniversary, when Banjamin you hear on a daily basis. I think if most people would hear the name Netanyahu they would think of the PM. Out of curiosity I pulled up the page stats [1], and its usually around 10:1, so that to me screams primary. I agree though, a hotnote would be appropriate, since he is definitely the secondary. - GalatzTalk 22:47, 9 January 2017 (UTC)
- @Galatz: I imagine most people would agree with you. And I can't really argue that the PM is primary. But I'd still prefer to leave it as it is. I think part of why I feel that way is that I wonder deep in my heart if Bibi would ever have gone into politics if Yoni hadn't died at Entebbe. Anyway, my !vote is what it is. - Netanyahu (disambiguation) should not exist as a redirect to the surname page, whether it is titled Netanyahu or Netanyahu (surname). older ≠ wiser 00:28, 10 January 2017 (UTC)
- Support - I agree with the nominator's arguments. Particularly, the advent of him as the "longest-serving Israeli leader" places this into the primary-topic spot. Wolfdog (talk) 14:04, 14 January 2017 (UTC)
