[edit]This page has been vandalized. I have no time right now, but can somebody get on that?
thanks
For a major IDE, this could probably be fleshed out a little more. Enochlau 14:16, 21 September 2005 (UTC)
Also, it would be nice if the Swing versus SWT issue was mentioned.

Current Version
[edit]I think the NetBeans 9.0 is already released (no RC). Currently in the article it is 8.2 and preview is set to 9.0 RC3. https://netbeans.apache.org/download/nb90/nb90.html — Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.46.114.159 (talk) 10:03, 30 July 2018 (UTC)

Language
[edit]What language is NetBeans written in? --Spectracide 01:48, 17 May 2007 (UTC)
- It has been a long time, I'm sure you know by now, but it's Java. Hervegirod (talk) 10:40, 31 August 2008 (UTC)
Some suggestions
[edit]- It's irrelevant that NetBeans was developed using NetBeans. This should be at best a piece of trivia, and definitely not part of the article's first sentence.
- It is however relevant that NetBeans is written in Java, and this is not mentioned prominently, but only in the NetBeans IDE section.
- NetBeans Platform, as distinct from the NetBeans IDE, should be described wholly in the eponymous subsection. I think developers will agree NetBeans is known primarily for being an IDE. Hence the NetBeans IDE section should also probably come first.
- "Since modules can be developed independently, applications based on the NetBeans platform can be easily and powerfully[citation needed] extended by third party developers." -- "independently" can be combined into the previous sentence; second clause is pure opinion.
- The information about NetBeans 5.5 reads like a sales pitch. ("comprehensive support ... rich client applications"; unqualified "editor enhancements") -- if history of versions is important, then make this a factual separate section.
- "each module provides a well-defined function" -- well-defined is a matter of opinion in this case (not talking about a fixed API, etc.). "Targets a specific function" would probably be more accurate.
- IDE Packs section -- again a sales brochure. "the NetBeans Profiler is able to obtain runtime information on applications that are too large or complex for other profilers" -- really? I think it would be more concise and less presumptuous to detail what the profiler does, and point the reader to more comprehensive documentation about that type of profiling. These statements as written are unqualified claims, and likely to be out of date in the future.
-Please put the tech requirments into the text

JavaScript Editor
[edit]Why is this JavaScript Editor listed with other official Netbeans packs? Isn't this section only for 1st party extensions? --ren 04:04, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

net beans tutorial
[edit]i want tutorial for net beans full utilization of that program tool —Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.164.163.199 (talk) 13:58, 23 December 2008 (UTC)
- i want explanation for comment complete understanding of that statement. 65.183.135.231 (talk) 21:11, 27 February 2009 (UTC)
- And I want to have a Ferrari. What's the point stating what you want? You may kindly ask for a tutorial and then thank the one giving it to you - but this is not exactly what wikipedia is about. Go and use an internet search engine or maybe press the "Help"-button in Netbeans for an introduction. 91.13.73.119 (talk) 19:55, 19 October 2009 (UTC)
OSGi integretation?
[edit]http://wiki.netbeans.org/OSGiAndNetBeans there is some spec page but i think its worth to mention because of a possbile interaction with eclipse rcp plugins or other OSGi plugins. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.25.101.85 (talk) 22:06, 29 December 2008 (UTC)

Wrong description of image
[edit]There's one image with the text "Netbeans 6.5 Beta 1 debugging a C++ application with NetBeans C/C++ Pack & The Cygwin Compiler, In Microsoft Windows XP.".
But the image doesn't show the debugger; it shows 3 compilation errors.

JDK Needed
[edit]According to this page, having only the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) is not sufficient to run the application. -- 200.99.204.146 (talk) 17:04, 31 May 2011 (UTC)
- This is a very old question, but it's only if the JDK was not automatically found on the platform by Netbeans. In that case it is possible to specify it manually in the netbeans.conf file. Hervegirod (talk) 12:38, 10 January 2016 (UTC)
Merging List of NetBeans-based software into this article
[edit]List of NetBeans-based software has exactly one entry, which IMHO doesn't merit a separate article. It should be merged into this one, maybe in a new section.--Oneiros (talk) 12:06, 4 February 2014 (UTC)
- Agreed. I have merged that article into this one, into the new section NetBeans#Related_software. I have also edited List of NetBeans-based software to be empty now that its contents have been merged into this main article, and put a template for speedy deletion on List of NetBeans-based software now that it's empty. Seeing as that page was a list with only one thing on the list, and has now had its content updated and merged into this main article, I think deletion of List of NetBeans-based software is pretty uncontroversial so that's why I put up a template for speedy deletion rather than a regular ordinary nomination for deletion, since I highly doubt anyone will disagree with the idea of merging a list that only has one item on it and then deleting that list once it's been merged. --Yetisyny (talk) 09:01, 9 February 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks. I've retried the deletion.--Oneiros (talk) 12:36, 9 February 2014 (UTC)
- Now there is lots of NetBeans-based software in the NetBeans#Related_software. Would you please create List of NetBeans-based software and move them there. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.110.8.164 (talk) 14:50, 4 December 2014 (UTC)

License
[edit]It appears the material under Netbeans IDE -- License is out of date. The History section seems to read that the proposed transfer to Apache has already happened. I'm not sure if that would have affected the licensing. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2605:A601:41FA:8400:2099:622E:15FF:173B (talk) 01:02, 28 November 2018 (UTC)
Keep up
[edit]When you start the IDE it everywhere says "Apache Netbeans" (I hate that by the way, but I have no say in this). Is this article still current? --Alien4 (talk) 20:09, 8 February 2020 (UTC)
- Now Netbeans isn't what it was 10 years ago. Bunch functionalities disappeared, all old references in forums now redirect to marketing pages. 213.94.78.65 (talk) 11:36, 10 June 2021 (UTC)
latest preview version issue
[edit]Please fix latest preview version, it is not 12, it is 14. But the format of how to fix it - is not obvious for me... it is something about wikidata|property. I'm lost. Please help me understand this format --Мель Ау (talk) 22:04, 14 December 2022 (UTC)
