Clarification
[edit]I started this page to clarify the role and capabilities of the exciting new NECC which will bridge some of the operational gaps between the blue water, green water, and brown water environments and the land warfare operations of the Army and Marine Corps. The subject is confusing for many people within the Navy because of the overlap with the Marine Corps, Naval Special Warfare (who had until recently been the de facto inheritors and guardians of the Navy's riverine and coastal warfare heritage), and the Fleet Marine Force (FMF). NECC seems likely to eliminate some redundance and some functions that the Marine Corps is eager to shed.
Please feel free to become part of the process and add or edit as you see fit. I started this, but no doubt many will want to provide input before it is finalized and locked.
There is no overlap with NSW: Specwar (and the SBUs) is a part of USSOCOM. Everybody can play in the coastal/littoral/riverine environment, but the days of fleet units tasking SBUs went out in the mid-90s...

Buzz Word Bingo
[edit]Could someone rewrite this article that knows the topic yet knows how to write like a real person instead of an automatic buzzword generator? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.169.199.189 (talk) 23:07, 21 August 2014 (UTC)
