Techno version (?) from David Bowie
[edit]The article says that the original David Bowie version for the Moulin Rouge! soundtrack was a techno music song, and that the lyrics track was also sent to Massive Attack for a different mix. The article also states that both versions are included in the Moulin Rouge! album... but that doesn't seem to be case. It is true that there are two versions of Nature Boy on the soundtrack: the David Bowie + Massive Attack version (track 15) and a David Bowie + orchestra version (track 1). But the previously described "techno" version is nowhere to be heard. Was this version released somewhere else, or only included in the movie but not in the released album? If the techno version was never relased, I suggest to rephrase the article to make it clear that it was canceled --216.221.62.2 (talk) 14:06, 4 June 2020 (UTC)
What prevents you from my editing?
[edit]To editor IndianBio: Your insulting comment (???? what gibberish is this?) is not helpful to the Wikipedia (read Wikipedia:No personal attacks), nor is your reverted editor, that clearly doesn't fully answer my question: what prevents you from my editing? — cheloVechek / talk 22:56, 20 February 2015 (UTC)
To editor IndianBio: P.S. Learn carefully: Wikipedia: Ownership of articles. I'll give you three days to justify the rollback. — cheloVechek / talk 02:50, 21 February 2015 (UTC)
- You need to explain why and what you are adding. It appears as random text and nothing more than that. —Indian:BIO [ ChitChat ] 06:43, 21 February 2015 (UTC)
- @IndianBio:. It's not "gibberish" or "random text" - it is the Hebrew and Russian transcriptions of Yablokoff's name. Perhaps your computer set-up does not allow them to display properly. @Chelovechek:: There is no need to include those versions of Yablokoff's name here. Were this an article about Yablokoff - and one certainly needs to be written about him - it would be appropriate to include them. But this article is on English Wikipedia, and it is about the song, not the person. So, I agree with IndianBio that their inclusion is unnecessary here. Ghmyrtle (talk) 08:33, 21 February 2015 (UTC)
- Thank you, that you assume good faith. I unpleasantly that "Nature Boy" did not know this guideline. I'm surprised that on English Wikipedia was not article about Herman Yablokoff (1903—1981), American composer, poet, producer and showman. — cheloVechek / talk 09:22, 21 February 2015 (UTC)
- I was surprised as well. If no-one else starts one first, I will see what I can do.... Ghmyrtle (talk) 11:09, 21 February 2015 (UTC)

- Sorry, but I could not hold myself... Herman Yablokoff. — cheloVechek / talk 13:08, 21 February 2015 (UTC)
- You are correct, it was appearing as square boxes in my desktop, however, I could see the difference and the local wiki parameter in my phone's internet explorer. —Indian:BIO [ ChitChat ] 15:58, 21 February 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks you for your comment, created a new article! ;) — cheloVechek / talk 17:15, 21 February 2015 (UTC)

Thank you for an interesting, informative article
[edit]Nature Boy
Most people have heard the haunting lyrics of "Nature Boy", sung by Nat King Cole. And most people like it.
But, in conversation, most people do not know where the song came from, and what movies featured it.
This article reveals a fascinating history of its origin and development.
Thank you for the efforts that were put into this article.

Dvořák (again?)
[edit]Not sure if and how this has been said before, but the 2nd. movement of Dvořák's piano quintet No2 starts and develops the same theme as nature boy. (Here with music and notes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SInKlybxgQw) - imho this could be mentioned in the article, as the resemblance to another piece of music ("Shvayg mayn harts") has also been covered. Torstenphilipp (talk) 08:15, 21 September 2018 (UTC)
Sorry, I must have been blind. It's in the article already... (I'm more of a listening than a reading person) - Torstenphilipp (talk) 08:17, 21 September 2018 (UTC)
Capital Letters
[edit]Thank you for this interesting page about this so beloved song. Question: Why the name of Eden Ahbez has no initials in capital letters? Ciao, --Simoneschiaffino (talk) 00:47, 16 January 2019 (UTC)
- Sorry. Clear. Bye. --Simoneschiaffino (talk) 00:52, 16 January 2019 (UTC)
Big Star covered Nature boy on their 1978 album
[edit]I was listening to "Third," Big Star's third and last album from 1978. They covered this song. I am familiar with Nat King Cole's version so I recognized it. I just thought it would be an interesting addition to this article.2601:199:C200:EB8E:1023:92B9:5F72:A84B (talk) 21:36, 11 March 2019 (UTC)
- If it meets the criteria discussed at WP:SONGCOVER, you would be welcome to add it. DonIago (talk) 05:07, 12 March 2019 (UTC)
Introduction
[edit]The last four sentences, beginning with "When Cole was performing", of the first paragraph of the introduction seem overly detailed for the introduction. And they replicate what is already in the "Background and development" section. To eliminate redundancy, I would like to delete the four sentences. Does this seem sensible? Jellysandwich0 (talk) 17:26, 15 July 2022 (UTC)
- The lead does need to be trimmed - there is too much unnecessary detail, and some duplication. But the trimming needs to be carried out across the whole of the introduction, rather than by simply deleting four sentences. Ghmyrtle (talk) 19:45, 15 July 2022 (UTC)
The Little Prince
[edit]The novella, Antoine Saint-Exupery’s The Little Prince, was released a few years before Nature Boy. The lyrics of the song describe The Little Prince; is this really just a coincidence? 2601:245:4600:CF00:8C1B:647F:4D4B:F58E (talk) 01:27, 1 March 2023 (UTC)
- It's generally agreed that the song is at least partially autobiographical, and I haven't heard anything about it being inspired by The Little Prince, so I think any narrative similarities probably are just that---a coincidence. If you are aware of any reliable sources that record this inspiration or claim it, then that might merit inclusion, but Wikipedia doesn't publish original research or hunches. Reversion of edit adding Toquinho and Vinicius de Moraes cover version
[edit]@Doniago: Why did you revert the addition of this cover version in this edit? Chrisdevelop (talk) 22:36, 31 July 2023 (UTC)
- Because, as I mentioned in my edit summary, the addition of a song cover didn't satisfy the criteria for inclusion per WP:SONGCOVER. There was no evidence provided (typically a secondary source) to establish that this cover is considered particularly significant. DonIago (talk) 03:36, 1 August 2023 (UTC)
- @Doniago: Have you seen the Italian Wikipedia article on which this track is listed O Poeta e o Violão ? Toquinho and Vinicius de Moraes are both notable, as is the record, which has had four releases: two in 1975, then 1991 and 2001. It is featured on the Album of the Year website, AllMusic, Discogs, Amazon, on Spotify, and is in the Jazz Archives. One YouTube recording I found has 5,400 subscribers. I found dozens more. Might it not have been more helpful to place {{citations needed}} flag to give other editors a chance to review, and if necessary, improve the contribution? Chrisdevelop (talk) 07:54, 1 August 2023 (UTC)
- Firstly, I don't speak Italian, so no, I wouldn't have looked at the Italian Wikipedia article. Secondly, even if the artists are notable, and even if the album on which the cover appears is notable, that doesn't mean that the cover of this particular song is notable. If the Italian Wikipedia article has a source that discusses this cover of the song in some detail, you're welcome to copy that source over here. It's entirely reasonable for editors to remove newly-added unsourced information and notify the editor who added it, which is exactly what I did, and as I said, I already explained my reasoning in my edit summary at the time.
