Envoys to and from Europe
[edit]According to Twentieth century impressions of Siam#Chapter_I, Dutch entry into the region caught the attention of the King of Siam in 1607, who then sent envoys to the Netherlands East Indiaman Admiral Matelief, who sent them on and on September 11, 1608, were received in audience at the Hague by Prince Maurice, the Governor of the United Provinces, to whom handsome presents were made.
