Nancy Drew and the Hidden Staircase (film) → Nancy Drew and the Hidden Staircase – As of this writing, Nancy Drew and the Hidden Staircase redirects to The Hidden Staircase, without even a hatnote. Anyone searching for the title which includes Nancy Drew's name is most likely searching for one of the films, rather than the book. In any event, the qualifier "(film)" only results in a prolonged search since the Nancy Drew and the Hidden Staircase disambiguation page, without the qualifier "(film)", would list the book as well as the two films, thus covering all uses of the title. - Comment this dab page probably should have (film) removed as some will expect the book to also have the same title. In ictu oculi (talk) 10:10, 9 August 2018 (UTC)
- Support for now per nom and above comment. I suspect Nancy Drew and the Hidden Staircase (2019 film) will become an overwhelming primary topic within a few months and we'll need to move this to Nancy Drew and the Hidden Staircase (disambiguation) shortly, but for now removing "(film)" is helpful for the reasons given. - Support I wanted to move this page, but was unable to, as I am not an admin. Support per nom. Natg 19 (talk) 21:12, 9 August 2018 (UTC)
- I Support making Nancy Drew and the Hidden Staircase the disambiguation but I think that you can accomplish all of this without any page moves. Simply replace the contents of Nancy Drew and the Hidden Staircase with the contents of this article, then replace the contents of this article with
#REDIRECT [[Nancy Drew and the Hidden Staircase]] {{R from incomplete disambiguation}}
. This will preserve the page and talk histories of all pages concerned. Leschnei (talk) 12:03, 10 August 2018 (UTC)
- Page moves are indeed necessary for the very reason of preserving page and talk histories. Currently, the revision history of Nancy Drew and the Hidden Staircase contains only a single entry from March 2008 indicating its creation as a redirect. It does not have a talk page since redirects do not normally contain talk pages. If the contents of the two pages are exchanged without page moves, then the very page on which we are having this discussion would become a redirect talk page (Wikipedia users rarely, if ever, consult the few redirect talk pages in existence), while a new talk page would have to be created from the redlink Talk:Nancy Drew and the Hidden Staircase. - Good point, thanks! I hadn't thought that through completely. My vote is still Support - for the original page move, not my suggestion. Leschnei (talk) 01:30, 11 August 2018 (UTC)
