Top image
[edit]This photo has twice been inserted by its author. It has a nice blue sky, but the horse and rider appear stretched out, perhaps because of the admittedly dramatic angle, perhaps because of the lens? It is inappropriate for it to be the top image in the article about the statue. Yngvadottir (talk) 04:09, 12 March 2018 (UTC)
RfC about choice of top photo

Should the top photo in the article be
- (A) the photo that was there until 23 November 2017:
-
A: photo previously used in article
- or (B) the photo by A.Savin that they replaced it with on 23 November 2017:
-
B: Photo by A.Savin
- or (C) another modern-day photo from Commons, such as the one I placed in the article today:
-
C: Replacement photo used on 12 March 2018

Survey
[edit]- A. Clearest modern photo I have found on Commons that shows the horse and rider, the entire base, and the fence (mentioned in the text), not from the rear, and without intrusive objects. B is distorted for some reason, so does not give a good idea of the horse and rider. Yngvadottir (talk) 16:27, 12 March 2018 (UTC)
- A - Summoned by bot. A is more clear than the two alternatives, has a better angle, and includes the fence. Meatsgains(talk) 00:08, 19 March 2018 (UTC)
- C (Weakly) - Lets more detail be seen, but the fact that it's cloudy in the photo makes it more difficult. A could be a good alternative, but if somebody takes a picture like C on a sunny day, I'd go with it.
- C, as it focuses more on the main item of interest -- Frederick -- than do the other two images. As for the fence, if it really is important, a cropped portion of image A can be added to the gallery (similar to what is already being done for one of the panels). Threaded discussion
[edit]- I prefer (A) for clarity and context. Sakuranohi (talk) 02:32, 1 April 2018 (UTC)
