I read on this webpage - http://daniellathompson.com/Texts/Ary_Barroso/Kostelanetz.htm - that this song reached #4 on Brazilian music charts for 1938. The page used this page - http://www.hot100brasil.com/timemachine1938.html - as a reference. I included this information on this Wikipedia page, using the second webpage as a reference, but the information was removed and I was informed that hot100brasil.com is not a reliable source of information. I had trouble finding another site listing the top songs for 1938 in Brazil, so I do not know whether "Na Baixa do Sapateiro" was in fact #4 on the Brazilian charts for that year or if this information is completely false. If anybody can help clear this up it would be much appreciated.--Jpcase (talk) 17:28, 27 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Does anyone know if the English lyrics for "Baía" written by Ray Gilbert are simply a translation of "Na Baixa do Sapateiro"'s Portugese lyrics into English or if they are a completely unrelated set of lyrics simply written to the same tune?--Jpcase (talk) 17:50, 27 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I updated this article quite a while ago to reflect the fact that Ray Gilbert's lyrics are not a translation of Ary Barroso's original Portuguese lyrics, but just noticed that I never mentioned it here until now.--Jpcase (talk) 21:55, 26 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
