History
[edit]"The charter was given approximately a month before the Oregon State Constitution was signed, which would not have allowed a perpetual franchise." I'm having some problems with that sentence. The state constitution was signed in 1857 by the delegates to the Oregon Constitutional Convention, then ratified later that year by the citizens of Oregon. Congress later approved of it when it enacted legislation to grant statehood in February 1859. So, if the company was founded in 1859, then it should be something like: "The charter was granted approximately a month before the Oregon Constitution became effective upon statehood, which the Constitution would not have allowed a perpetual franchise." - You're right AM, and now that you quote it, it sounds awkward (was the charter for a month? or it was given a month prior to the signing?). The quote is from MacColl page 162, hopefully someone with more history of the Oregon constitution than me can sort it out? tedder (talk) 06:18, 17 March 2010 (UTC)
- Tried re-wording it, and split it into two sentences. Let me know if its accurate. Aboutmovies (talk) 06:27, 17 March 2010 (UTC)
- That's great, AM, thanks for the help! tedder (talk) 06:52, 17 March 2010 (UTC)

Summary and Enron
[edit]Summary NW Natural (NYSE: NWN) is a publicly traded utility headquartered in Portland, Oregon, United States. Primarily a natural gas distributor, the company services residential, industrial, and commercial customers in Western Oregon and Southwest Washington in the Pacific Northwest. Founded in 1859, the company has over 660,000 customers and revenues in excess of one billion in US dollars annually.[1] After Enron filed for bankruptcy, NW Natural attempted to purchase fellow Portland utility Portland General Electric (PGE) before various issues led to the abandonment of the deal.
The last sentence implies that NW Natural was an Enron company. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.122.244.237 (talk • contribs) 19:34, 22 March 2011 (UTC)
- Is there a way to word it otherwise? There are plenty of sources linking NW Natural to PGE, since PGE was Enron-owned. Also, keep wikipedia's conflict of interest guidelines in mind. tedder (talk) 20:15, 22 March 2011 (UTC)
What about this? "After Enron filed for bankruptcy, NW Natural attempted to purchase fellow Portland utility Portland General Electric (PGE) from Enron before various issues led to the abandonment of the deal." —Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.122.244.237 (talk) 20:30, 22 March 2011 (UTC)
- That works. At some point more should be written on this article about it, explaining the issues and such. tedder (talk) 20:37, 22 March 2011 (UTC)
