- Oppose: no evidence that this is the WP:COMMONNAME, and an example of RAS syndrome. Dekimasuよ! 03:35, 20 September 2024 (UTC)
- Comment: There is a press release from NST themselves regarding the name change, which is meant to continuing reflecting who they are. VenezuelanSpongeBobFan2004 (talk) 04:20, 20 September 2024 (UTC)
- Support - "NST Niigata Sogo Television" isn't exactly how NST is commonly referred to in English-speaking sources. In fact, NST doesn't seem to be mentioned at all, outside of a couple non-reliable sources:
- - Websites saying "Niigata Sogo Television":
- [1] AnimeNewsNetwork - definitely not WP:RS, and the website seems old and not updated past 2018.
- [2] Bloomberg definitely seems more reliable, but there's no information on this page outside of a name and description: it's literally just a stub. Not sure if it constitutes an english WP:COMMONNAME source.
- - Websites saying "NST Niigata Sogo Television":
- [3] Dun and Bradstreet - Some kind of business analytic aggregator website.
- Overall I don't think there even is any "English-speaking" common name that we can derive from reliable sources, I'd argue it would be best to follow NST's official name of choice, NST新潟総合テレビ, which essentially translates to "NST Niigata Sogo Television". (It definitely is an example of RAS syndrome, but I believe Wikipedia should simply reflect the official name by the company regardless, since there are no English reliable sources that I am aware of could be used as a basis for WP:COMMONNAME.)
