Talk:NASCAR on ESPN
Incorrect Statement
[edit]The following was shown...
* It should be noted when CBS took over The Daytona 500 in 1979, ABC stopped broadcasting NASCAR Cup series races from 1979 until 1989. They resumed that year but used ESPN crews.
Which is NOT true because ABC most certianly broadcast the Firecracker 400 (and perhaps others) until 1989 tape delayed on Wide World of Sports. Richard Petty's 200th win in the 1984 Firecracker 400 was an ABC broadcast with Jim Lampley/Sam Posey in the booth. Keith Jackson called the '87 Pepsi 400 on WWOS. They covered that race tape-delayed up to '89. ESPN took over the Pepsi 400 in 1990, after it moved to Saturday, and started showing it live.
More information is needed before that note can be clarified. Doctorindy 13:10, 16 October 2006 (UTC)
Speedworld
[edit]Why doesn't this article mention ESPN Speedworld? I'd add it, but I really only vaguely remember the theme music and the computer generated graphics from watching NASCAR races as a kid. I think Jerry Punch was on it. Anyone have more information to add? PolarisSLBM 14:08, 26 November 2006 (UTC)
Sylvania 300 pre-emption?
[edit]Until a few minutes ago, it was noted that pre-race ceremonies for the 2008 Sylvania 300 did not air on ABC due to a breaking news report from ABC News. However, I watched the race and do not remember seeing it. Nor is it mentioned on the race page. I would ask whoever contributed that entry to post again with more specific information, whether it was local or national and what the news story was. Thank you. - Desmond Hobson (talk) 15:57, 11 October 2008 (UTC)
Removal of the 'entertainment' section
[edit]Didn't really need the promo songs and 'bump' music. --raganbaby_6 01:11, 18 November 2009 (UTC)
A few issues
[edit]I think NASCAR Countdown should be merged with this article, I don't see that it has enough information for its own page. A lot of the info is already included here. Also, the coverages and other controversies doesn't fit neutral point of view, and I don't think The Daly Planet, as an opinion based-blog, can be considered a reliable source. Any thoughts from other editors? Lvi56 (talk) 20:58, 27 November 2010 (UTC)
