Neutrality
[edit]I just dont know why the Neutrality of this article is been doubted ! Dr.Manjunath is certainly one of the brilliant violinists carnatic classical music has ever produced and it is a well known fact ! Just ask any one who knows carnatic music ! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.18.170.140 (talk • contribs) 16:53, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
- "is certainly one of the brilliant violinists"—it's phrases like these that are the reason for the Neutrality-tag. At the moment the article is not describing him from a neutral point of view. I referred you to Wikipedia:Neutral point of view before—please read it.
Neutrality is one of the cornerstones of Wikipedia, Verifiability is another. "Just ask any one who knows carnatic music" is not enough for anything, certainly not try and verify his fame or quality.
Have a look at e.g. Daniel Barenboim. The strongest qualifiers you'll find there is that he is well-known and that he came to fame.
In the topic at hand, there are a great number of those non-neutral qualifiers, weasel words or peacock terms, e.g.:
- "Mysore, the royal city and a great centre for Music"—simply stating the city would be enough to describe it, those adjectives are unsourced and push for a certain point of view
- "who himself is a veteran musician of high caliber"—what reliable source said so? If none, then this half sentence shouldn't be there.
- "music lovers and critics were astonished to see his brilliant musicianship at the tender age"—WEASEL words, and unreferenced.
- "Blessed with amazing creativity and technical virtuosity, it did not take long for Manjunath to blossom as one of the top ranking violinists in India"—unsourced, thus unverified, and filled with PEACOCK terms
- And that was only the first paragraph.
Hope that makes it clearer. --AmaltheaTalk 20:08, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
