The term "illegitimate" is grotesquely out of place here

Do people even use terms like "illegitimate" any more? Nathaniel Kahn is Lou's son. Surely concepts such as "legitimacy," which have bearing only on inheritance and other strictly legal matters have no relevance in a discussion of this film.
