Trial of Wang Yam

[edit]

Half this article is currently about the trial of Wang Yam for the suspicion of murder of Allan Chappelow. Should this be moved to a new article for Wang Yam? Martin451 (talk) 14:56, 29 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Is he notable for something else? MrsBucket (talk) 16:47, 29 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
WP:BLP1E I am unaware of anything else, however I do not think this belongs in this article. I have created a redirect article for Wang Yam pointing here. Martin451 (talk) 02:28, 30 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It is not yet apparent (nor is anyone legally permitted to speculate...) whether the 'security' issues relate to the victim or the accused or both. I suggest not splitting the article until we know rather more than we currently do... Pfistermeister (talk) 06:09, 30 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
This BBC article says that prosecutors had said that "the risk was related to material in the defence case". Presumably as that BBC article is still online, that particular quote does not count as speculation within the meaning of the judge's order and so can be reported. 86.135.7.222 (talk) 01:45, 4 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ambiguity surrounding date of death.

[edit]

Mr Chappelow was last known to be alive on the 8th May 2006 when he telephoned the inland revenue. His body was found on the 14th June. It is estimated that he died between the 15th and 23rd May Martin451 (talk) 02:13, 5 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Allan ChappelowMurder of Allan Chappelow – I believe WP:1E applies here. I see no indication that Chappelow's life and work was particularly noteworthy before he was murdered, particularly since all the sources about the details of his life are ones relating to the murder case. Furthermore, the majority of the article is about the trial and conviction of Wang Yam for allegedly murdering Chappelow and the censoring of media reporting of the trial on national security grounds. Therefore it is clear that this page is focused more on the murder than on Chappelow himself, as that is the only part that is especially noteworthy. Tulzscha (talk) 17:12, 7 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
