Renaming or Citations Needed

Shells tied to sticks no doubt predate beer cap versions of this instrument. But as for the history of the thing made of beer-bottle tops, I don't think Monkey Stick works very well, seems like a different thing, the fairground organ version. Parallel histories perhaps.

I know it first-hand from around 1970, in rural Derbyshire, used by Morris men/folk musicians. Lagerphone was the name I later heard, and around there that seems to go to Australia.

I don't think 'Monkey Stick' is the right page name, naming that no-one knows. I don't believe that historical line for a moment, it's an improvised instrument. Lagerphone is the common name.
