On 29 October 2024, it was proposed that this article be moved from Monica A. Driscoll to Monica Driscoll. The result of the discussion was moved. |
I've got a COI so don't want to make the change myself, but since her lab discovered exophers that should definitely be in the article! Here's a write-up on the original paper.
Some of her research on aging has also gotten substantial secondary independent-for-academia coverage here and (not as independent) here. JoelleJay (talk) 16:34, 29 October 2024 (UTC)
- @JoelleJay: could you draft something and make an edit request? As a non-science editor I don't have experience of what belongs in this kind of article. Also, in the spirit of WP:ORPHAN it would be good to mention Driscoll's lab in the exopher article. TSventon (talk) 17:46, 29 October 2024 (UTC)
- @JoelleJay I just saw this message and thank you! I'm not a C. elegans scientist, but I definitely see the importance. I included a couple of overview sentences for now based on the quickest of skims. I'd also be willing to add things in if you draft anything up. I'll also pop over to the exopher article and add a link per @TSventon's recommendation. Cyanochic (talk) 20:11, 3 November 2024 (UTC)
Article name
[edit]@JoelleJay and Cyanochic: Should the article name be Monica Driscoll? If so I could start a Wikipedia:Requested move. As far as I can see, Google scholar uses the initial, but her papers don't. The shorter name is a redirect to Mônica da Silva, but I doubt that Mônica da Silva is the primary topic as Mônica has a diacritic and she is "known professionally as Mônica da Silva". TSventon (talk) 18:00, 29 October 2024 (UTC)
- Yes, Monica Driscoll is the better name. JoelleJay (talk) 18:36, 29 October 2024 (UTC)
Requested move 29 October 2024

The result of the move request was: moved. (closed by non-admin page mover) Frost 20:42, 5 November 2024 (UTC)
Monica A. Driscoll → Monica Driscoll – Monica Driscoll is a currently a redirect to Mônica da Silva, but I believe that the new article Monica A. Driscoll is the primary topic as Mônica da Silva uses a diacritic and she is "known professionally as Mônica da Silva". TSventon (talk) 19:04, 29 October 2024 (UTC)
- Support per nomination. References for the biochemist indicated her name as simply Monica Driscoll, without the middle initial. The musical performer is not known to the public as "Monica Driscoll" and no sources refer to her by that name. If at all needed, a hatnote to the effect — For the musician Mônica Pinto da Silva Driscoll, see Mônica da Silva — should suffice. —Roman Spinner (talk • contribs) 22:12, 29 October 2024 (UTC)
- Support. This was my PhD adviser, so I don't know if I can !vote here, but I can say she definitely goes by "Monica Driscoll" and should be the primary topic at that name. JoelleJay (talk) 23:13, 29 October 2024 (UTC)
- Support (if I can vote as the creator of the article). I think the reasons given are clear and reasonable for the change. Cyanochic (talk) 02:33, 2 November 2024 (UTC)
