[edit]- perhaps someone could extend the text to include the fact that the m where first dolls made in japan and then an anime. after that came the ill fated american cartoon.
- Anybody else notice that there is not a single accurate Romanization of the given Japanese, which would be "Monchicchi" or "Monchitchi" by standard methods? 131.123.56.234 15:22, 1 November 2006 (UTC)
commercial
[edit]- "monchichi mean happiness"...anyone remember that jingle on american tv commercial? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.150.245.51 (talk) 05:47, 1 August 2008 (UTC)
- I took the liberty to edit the following, as it contradicts Wikipedia's own article on Pharoahe Monch: "Queens-bred rapper Pharoahe Monch derived his rap name from his sister's childhood taunt that he resembled a Monchhichi". The claim that his sister gave him this name is not supported anywhere else on the Internet, it seems. However I do not find any 'empirical proof' that my edit is correct either, apart from it being supported by a few articles on different web pages.
My edit is based entirely on the original Wikipedia article on Pharoahe Monk. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.164.147.228 (talk) 13:42, 19 August 2008 (UTC)

Monchhichis → Monchhichi — User:Steveprutz 18:20, 7 December 2010 (UTC)
- The correct transcription of the name is 'Monchitchi' or 'Monchicchi'. It is made of 5 katakana: モ = "mo", ン= "-n", チ = "chi", ッ = "double next consonant", チ = "chi". Google's autotranslater inaccurately translates モンチッチ as "Monchhichi". Anthony Appleyard (talk) 13:38, 8 December 2010 (UTC)
- Monchitchi is already used for the romanization in the {{Nihongo}} template, but the official rendering of the brand in roman letters has always been Monchhichi, ie http://www.monchhichi.co.jp/ . I believe the article is in the plural because that's the title of the American TV show[1] but since the article now covers the brand, the toys, and both the Japanese anime series and the American cartoon, it should probably be in the singular. Origin of the name
[edit]The French page says the name is from the French (pronounced the Japanese way) "mon petit" (my little one) I don't know if it's true, because this info is not on this page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.91.51.235 (talk) 05:13, 9 June 2020 (UTC)
