Article on the abbey, not the village
[edit]I think we need to decide whether this article is supposed to be about the village or the ruined monastic settlement. The current state of affairs - huge lede on the monastery, article body on football clubs - is just sad and confusing. Based on the article cats, this was originally intended to focus on the ruins. For the village I think Wikipedia:Notability first needs to be established. I will thus remove the unsourced and mostly unencyclopedic "Religion", "Bars and restaurants" and "Education" sections and move the "town twinning" and "football" stuff to the talk page. I will also remove any links to WP:SPS & look for some RS. Some of the info is from this sign by Bord Failte

Football clubs
[edit]Naomh Mairtin CLG
[edit]Monasterboice is home to Naomh Mairtin, a senior Gaelic football club from County Louth. The club was founded in 1957. The club's most known players are JP Rooney and Michael Fanning.[1][2]
Albion Rovers
[edit]Monasterboice is home to Albion Rovers Football Club. The club has numerous facilities including 3 full size pitches, an all-weather pitch and 'Eddie's Place', a shop in memory of former Albion legend, Eddie Maher.[3]
