page move
[edit]the title of the page was moved from "2010..." to simply the "Mohmand Agency..." However this the year is convention for these type of things and there have been other attacks in the area in the past (doesn't seem to have been big enough/picked up by wikipedia. Perhaps because it was a few years ago before these things use to get their own page)Lihaas (talk) 07:55, 10 July 2010 (UTC)
- Please see Wikipedia:Article titles#Precision and disambiguation.
- We include such details "to distinguish an article from other uses of the topic name," not merely to provide additional information (which is handled in the article's body). It's probable that there have been "other attacks in the area" (not notable enough to appear on this list) in 2010, so by that standard, we would need to include the month (and perhaps even the date).
- If and when we have an article about a different notable Mohmand Agency attack, the article should be retitled accordingly. Until then, such specificity is needless.
- Note that of the incidents listed in the aforementioned article, the second-deadliest Mohmand Agency attack (not nearly as deadly as yesterday's) occurred on 23 October 2009, not "a few years ago." —David Levy 12:39, 10 July 2010 (UTC)
- I agree we need to have 2010 in the name of the attack. these attacks are quite frequent and there have been other attacks in this area and likely will be more. once the article is off the main page I suggest we move back to the original name.--Wikireader41 (talk) 04:19, 13 July 2010 (UTC)
- Did you read my above reply? You've repeated Lihaas's comments without addressing anything that I wrote. —David Levy 14:37, 13 July 2010 (UTC)
- did you read my comments. I have expressed clear and unambiguous support to moving the title of the article.--Wikireader41 (talk) 02:47, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
- Yes, I read your message. You echoed Lihaas's comments without addressing my reply to them (in which I explained why our naming conventions do not call for such specificity). —David Levy 05:11, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
- I agree that the current name of the article, Mohmand Agency attack, is better and correct per WP titling conventions. VQuakr (talk) 05:25, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
