Taking in a Jewish Family
This quote: “We became refugees to Syria and we lost our home in Safad to a Jewish family that we sheltered... Strange thing. That I and my family would do it again” sounds literal. Indeed, that is why I looked it up on Wikipedia because someone told me this. If you read the source, he is being figurative. The country took in Jews who displaced his family. I think this should be made clear. Izzy132! (talk) 01:18, 11 October 2023 (UTC)
This line above should be amended to include the additional context found in the same article it's sourcing. It says later on down in the same article where Mohamed Hadid says this, that a 1989 Washington Post reported that his father said,
His father, Anwar Hadid, said he did not want the family "to live under the Israeli occupation."
This implies the family left voluntarily and contradicts the story that Mohamed Hadid tells himself. This should at least be mentioned alongside Mohamed's claim, which Mohamed would not be a primary source for as he was an infant at the time; the father would be the primary source, and he said it was voluntary. The Washington Post archive of the original story is here:
The portion of the mondoweiss article that also mentions this here:
The text should read,
“We became refugees to Syria and we lost our home in Safad to a Jewish family that we sheltered... Strange thing. That I and my family would do it again.” However, Mohamed's father Anwar Hadid was quoted as saying he did not want the family "to live under the Israeli occupation." --Wijowa (talk) 03:11, 30 October 2023 (UTC)
- Doing a little homework here. Anwar, Mohamed’s father, died in 1979, indicating that the WP quote came from Mohamed himself.
- Will follow through with the following revision to the paragraph, unless there are any objections:
- “Due to the 1947–1949 Palestine War, Hadid and his family fled Palestine as part of the 1948 Palestinian expulsion and flight. In 1989, Hadid stated his father “did not want the family to live under the Israeli occupation.” However, in 2015, Hadid instead stated: "We became refugees to Syria and we lost our home in Safad to a Jewish family that we sheltered..." Mohammed was born in natzeret israel 2A06:C701:4A67:A800:D88:B503:9FE8:DAA8 (talk) 16:58, 30 October 2023 (UTC)
- Yes, this is true. At the time, it was Israel, not Mandatory Palestine. Mistamystery (talk) 17:20, 30 October 2023 (UTC)
Mistake: It states that 1948 he joined the USIA and VOA, which can’t be possible as he was born that year

- Just a clarification issue. The sentence clearly means Hadid's father. Will correct. Mistamystery (talk) 17:13, 9 November 2023 (UTC)
Add criticism section
I would like to add a section concerning a) accusations of financial and business misconduct and b) accusations of antisemitism.
Is there an argument against that? FortunateSons (talk) 15:28, 25 November 2023 (UTC)

Can someone verify this independently? Otherwise, it should be deleted. 2600:1012:A010:68DA:4959:D0F0:9AAC:28A8 (talk) 05:29, 1 December 2023 (UTC)
Clarification on place of birth
The section says (now Israel), but Nazareth was already controlled by Israel months before his birth and had surrendered. Should it therefore not have just been Israel? FortunateSons (talk) 11:12, 26 November 2023 (UTC)
- Yes. Re: below. It was just Israel at that point. Editors or the subject may have discomfort with this fact, but there is no historical debate as to the sovereign power over Nazareth in November of 1948. Any arguments to the contrary here are WP:TENDENTIOUS and WP:GAMING and should be duly warned. Mistamystery (talk) 16:07, 18 December 2023 (UTC)
- I agree, thank you! FortunateSons (talk) 17:22, 18 December 2023 (UTC)

Born in Palestine
- Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. Shadow311 (talk) 15:49, 14 December 2023 (UTC)
Hopefully uncontroversial edit request regarding place of birth (I am not extended-confirmed, but this is not related to the conflict and should therefore be permitted)

Nazareth was already part of Israel months before his birth. Therefore, the page should be changed from (now Israel) to (Israel). FortunateSons (talk) 13:58, 18 December 2023 (UTC)
- Not done: please provide reliable sources that support the change you want to be made. Jonathan Deamer (talk) 15:33, 18 December 2023 (UTC)
- This is common knowledge and is already well established on the parent articles. Nonetheless:

- Israel was founded on May 14, 1948. Nazareth capitulated in the conflict on July 16, 1948. Hadid was born on November 6, 1948.
- Making the change now. Mistamystery (talk) 16:03, 18 December 2023 (UTC)
